Abstract

The folding roof is for a cabriolet vehicle. It comprises a steel sheet top (1) attached by a hinge (2) to a rear window section (3). The rear window is made of glass and the entire roof folds away flat to be concealed by the boot cover (4). USE/ADVANTAGE - Folding roof made of hard top materials which has a good aesthetic appearance and is easily stowed away.

Description

The fabric roof of a convertible is given the otherwise used Sheet steel or high quality plastic and all other known disadvantages from the beginning anachronism.

There are therefore also removable steel or plastic roofs that can only be carried in the closed state or because of their deformity only at the expense of the trunk or the aesthetic shape of the whole car.

Skizze 1.The construction described below avoids all of these Disadvantages, it enables a portable roof that can be carried Trunk and the outer shape only slightly affected. The only requirement is that in the so-called notchback version, the roof (the headlining), the rear window and the suitcase room covers are very flat and about the same length. Sketch 1.

In particular, this construction can have the following main functions and parts are described:

Skizze 2.1. The trunk lid is not usually near the Rear window hinged, but on the side of the rear fender, depending on the right or left traffic left or right (i.e. on the driver side). So it opens from the side instead of backwards. Sketch 2.
Skizze 3.2. The rear window is no longer firmly attached to the body, but mobile, d. H. it has a fulcrum around where usual Lich the trunk lid was struck, whereby it from the inclination can be turned back to the horizontal. At the same time, it has an inner concealed hinge connected to the roof (headlining), takes it horizontally With. The fulcrum is arranged so that both (i.e. Rear window and headlining) with as little space as possible put on the underside of the then closed trunk lid. Sketch 3.
The two side roof struts (usually so-called C-pillars) finally the rear side window will be analogous to that in front their side windows in the door frames, in the fenders behind the wheel arches sunk. Depending on the space available, the rear side windows also separate from roof side panels in the Fenders can be sunk in front of the wheel arches. These side panels can at the same time as
Roll bars are used when sensor controlled, too expected rollover accordingly quickly from the sinking snap out. (Additional roll bars on the backrests the seats are not excluded.)

If the emergency seats are dispensed with when driving in the open state is alternatively a construction as described below possible:

The trunk lid remains as originally struck, so remains open to the front.
The axis of rotation of the rear window is in lateral rails leads, which make it possible that the top during the shoot at the same time as far as the backrests of the front seats becomes. The roof is now in front of the shorter trunk.

  • 4a wie 4 unverändert.4a as 4 unchanged.
