Description
Process for the production of chlorbarium. The production of chlorbarium happened so far by reducing barite with coal to sulfur barium and converting it the latter with hydrochloric acid or chloromagnesium to form chlorobarium. Here was the Use of sulfuric acid, free hydrochloric acid and chlorine magnesium is necessary. Man has continued to glow barium, coal and calcium chloride and the chlorine barium formed leached out, with the disadvantage that the calcium sulphide was difficult to utilize and you had to use high percentage calcium chloride. The present proceedings uses magnesium chlorine lye (carnallite final lye) by adding equal molecules of barium sulfate. Magnesium chloride and calcium oxide heated to red heat in the presence of charcoal. The sulfuric acid that may be present in the magnesium chloride solution is removed by adding Lime and a corresponding amount of reducing coal rendered harmless; used advantageously one compared to an approximately 10 percent excess of crude chlorine magnesia liquor and Ca0 the theoretical amount.
The process is carried out in such a way that barium sulfate, lime, Forms coal and magnesium chloride to form bricks, blocks or the like. The mixture hardens gradually and remains solid even after glowing.
The mass is advantageously leached with cold water using the countercurrent method, which gives a chlorobarium liquor of 28 ° Be. Example: 488 kg of barium sulfate in the form of barite, 123.1 kg of quick lime and zoo kg of grudekoks (or 500 kg of air-dry lignite instead) are mixed together very closely, which can be done on a mixing machine. The starting materials can also be mixed with one another in the unground state and the grinding can be carried out together, so that mixing then takes place at the same time. The well-mixed grist is mixed with 21o kg of magnesium chlorine (e.g. 6161 magnesium chloride solution of 32 ° Be) to a paste and kneaded. Bricks are then formed from the mass, left to harden by standing and annealed 3 to q. Hours reduced in red heat. One suffices, then in the known way.
The crude chlorobarium liquor obtained still contains calcium chloride and Calcium polysulphides, in the formation of which the sulfur of the reducing carbon contributes. You can sulfide the Kalziumpoly by adding hydrochloric acid in CaCh, H.S and S or by the action of chlorine in CaCl2 and. Disassemble S. The sulfur obtained is granular and can be easily separated from the eye by filtering.
You can get the calcium polysulphide by the action of basic iron chloride at ordinary temperature or in the heat in calcium chloride, sulfur and FeS convict. The mixture of S and FeS is made by passing over Air at moderate heat and humidity with repeated stirring in S send Fe2 (OH) a convicted. 1-> uich treatment of the mixture with hydrochloric acid gives iron chloride, which in turn is used for cleaning the chlorobarium solution @ '.
The chlorobarium liquor freed from the calcium sulphide compounds is freed from the small amounts of iron by boiling. It is then evaporated to 35 " Be and the mass crystallizes. The barium chloride is iron-free and pure. The mother liquor contains calcium chloride, potassium chloride and sodium chloride from the crude magnesium chloride solution. The calcium chloride is separated from the latter in a known manner and processed.
The residue from the leaching of the chlorobarium contains CaS, NiTg0, CaCO., Undecomposed barite and gait. One can remove the residue by boiling with magnesium chloride in hydrogen sulfide,! Calcium chloride and magnesium hydroxide convert. It was known to heat magnesium chlorine together with barium sulfate. The present method, however, consists in the fact that not only chlorine magnesium and charcoal is used, but that calcium oxide or a calcium oxide is also used Connection is present. The lime forms calcium chloride with magnesium chloride, which then in the heat: acts on the scouring spar. All of the sulfur in both the Barite as in the final liquor and reducing carbon is bound as CaS. The present The process consists in that '2'vIagnesiumchlorid and lime together in the presence of charcoal act on barium sulphate, and that this gives rise to calcium chloride and barium chloride receives.
