R für H, Alkyl, Aryl, substituiertes Alkyl und Aryl, Alkoxy, Alkoxyalkyl, Aryloxy, Dialkylamino und Dialkylami noalkyl und Salze davon, Sulfonsäuren, Alkylsulfonsäuren, Alkylphosphonsäuren und Alkylcarboxylsäuren, Ester und Salze davon sowie fluoriertes Alkyl und Aryl, NH2, NHR' und NR'2 und Salze davon steht; und

Analysenwerte berechnet für C19H22: 91,14% C; 8,86% H;
Gefunden: 90,88% C; 8,63% H.
Zu 250 ml wasserfreiem DMF (über CaH2) wurden unter einer Stickstoffatmosphäre 1,38 g (10,6 mMol) gelbes wasserfreies Nickel(II)-chlorid und 13,9 g (53 mMol) Triphenylphosphin (TPP) zugesetzt. Bei Erwärmung auf 50-70°C während zweier Stunden löste sich das Nickelsalz und die Lösung nahm die tiefblaue Farbe des NiCl2(TPP)2 an. Bei der Temperatur von 50°C wurde Zinkpulver (0,877 g, 13,4 mMol) zugesetzt, woraufhin schnell ein Farbumschlag erfolgte (blaugrün-gelbgrün-rotbraun). Nach 15 Minuten wurde der Schlamm von Ni(O)(TPP)3 mit 5,0 g (13,3 mMol) pulverisiertem 2-Iodo-9,9-Dipropylfluoren umgesetzt. Das Rühren wurde während 20 Stunden bei 50°C fortgesetzt. Dann wurde die Mischung gekühlt und in 200 ml 2%iger Salzsäure eingegossen. 50 ml Chloroform wurden zugesetzt und das Zweiphasengemisch über Celite (Silicagel) filtriert. Die wäßrige Phase wurde zweimal mit Chloroform gewaschen und die vereinigten Chloroformphasen wurden fünfmal mit Wasser gewaschen, über Na2SO4 getrocknet und auf 21 g eines Öls eingeengt. Destillation des Öls bei 0,01 Torr gestattete die Gewinnung von 10,3 g TPP bei einem Siedepunkt von 80-100°C. Die verbliebene, nichtdestillierte viskose Flüssigkeit wurde in Dichloromethan gelöst und auf 60 g Silicagel preabsorbiert, wobei das Lösungsmittel vollständig unter vermindertem Druck abgezogen wurde. Die preabsorbierte Substanz wurde in eine mit 140 g Silicagel in Cyclohexan beladene 90-cm-Säule gegeben. Gewinnung von mehreren 250-ml-Fraktionen gab das Produkt in Fraktionen 2 und 3 (1,15 g).
Analysenwerte berechnet für C38H42: 91,50% C; 8,49% H.
Gefunden: 91,41% C; 8,51% H.
