Abstract

The separator comprises a first stage riser (12) adapted to receive a steam-water mixture. A baffle is disposed in a spaced relation to the riser. At least one discharge member comprises a passage for the or each slot, registering with it for receiving the mixture and discharging it against the baffle to promote the separation of water from the mixture. The water , collecting on the baffle, and the mixture rises by buoyant forces. A second stage riser (24) is disposed above the first stage riser. An additional baffle is disposed in a spaced relation to the second stage riser. At least one discharge slot is formed through the second stage riser. A discharge member comprises a passage for the or each latter slot, in registration with it for receiving the rising mixture and discharging it against the baffle to facilitate additional separation of water from the mixture. The water, collecting on the addition baffle, and the mixture rise by buoyant forces for further treatment.
