Abstract

Overrun brake systems for vehicle trailers produce automatic braking of the vehicle trailer as soon as the tractor vehicle is braked, due to pressure forces in the trailer drawbar. The actuating forces for this have hitherto been transmitted purely mechanically by linkages and cables. In order to prevent the tendency to swerving upon braking the tractor-trailer combination, produced by differing degrees of actuation of the individual brakes and the abrupt response of drum brakes, the disc brakes of the trailer are now actuated hydraulically. The brake master cylinder is mechanically connected to the overrun head by way of a linkage. Further transmission of the actuating forces to the brakes is performed hydraulically. The higher actuating forces which can be achieved constitute the prerequisite for the use of disc brakes. The advantages of disk brakes compared to drum brakes stem primarily from greater ease of maintenance and improved metered control of the braking effect. Altogether the arrangement presented here produces safer braking of the trailer.

Description

The invention relates to a brake system for vehicle trailers according to the overrun braking principle. This is done using a conventional casserole head and a mechanically acting linkage a hydraulics brake cylinder actuated; via hydraulic lines then the disc brakes are applied.

Brake systems for vehicle trailers after the bake braking principle cause an independent braking of a vehicle trailer as soon as the towing drive stuff is slowed down. For this, the clutch is between pulling vehicle and trailer designed so that due to pressure forces along the drawbar Brakes are applied.

Braking systems are known in which the actuators transmission of the brakes in the wheel hubs Cable pulls and linkage is done. The brakes are there designed as drum brakes. Doing so a deflection of the compressive forces initially into tensile forces converted.

The drum brakes are then actuated via cables. However, this arrangement has the disadvantage that none Disc brakes can be used as necessary Tightening forces cannot be transmitted. Furthermore the individual brakes are actuated in the Usually with different strength, because with one mechanical articulation the use leads to the fact that games change or cables lengthen so that it when braking from high speed to instability the trailer could break out. The known disadvantages of drum brakes, such as high Maintenance effort and poor metering of the effect, are only briefly mentioned here.

Hier will die Erfindung Abhilfe schaffen. The invention seeks to remedy this. The he finding as characterized in the claims solves the tasks of all wheel hub brakes equally to operate moderately and sufficiently large forces for to develop the use of disc brakes. Exactly if the game remains in the transfer between Overrun head and brake even after prolonged operation constant.

The advantages achieved by the invention are therein to see that due to the hydraulic brake application an exactly equal actuation of all individual brakes is guaranteed. Disc brakes can also be used use the advantage over drum brakes easier maintenance and more uniform dosed response. The entire braking system is therefore technically easier to handle, because for example, adjusting cables is not necessary.

The invention is based on a principle illustration explained in more detail. All individual parts are available as commercially available designs.

The commercially available overrun head 1 actuates the master brake cylinder 2 as soon as the trailer coupling is subjected to pressure via the linkage 4 , which is movably mounted at the deflection point 5 and on the attachment 8 . The resulting liquid pressure is passed through the hydraulic lines 6 to the brake discs 3 and there leads to the pressing of the brake pads by the brake pistons on the brake disc. Both the overrun head 1 and the master brake cylinder 2 and the disc brakes 3 are available as commercially available vehicle parts.
