Abstract

A packer roller of a cage-drum roller type for ground-working in agriculture possesses, in the inner free space formed by the bars (3) lying on an imaginary cylindrical surface and by the two end discs (2), an elastically flexible core (5) which fills the free space and which prevents sticky soil residues from penetrating and settling. The core can be subdivided into a plurality of pieces according to the position of the holding rings (4) and can consist of foam rubber, plastic foam or a compressed-air concertina, the surface of which is smooth and easily separable. The compressed air transmits the fulling work from the ground surface to the other surface regions of the concertina, thus causing the settled soil residues to be repelled. For adaptation to the nature of the ground, the pressure of the air can be varied or be alternately increased or reduced by means of controlled pneumatic solenoid valves. <IMAGE>
