Description

The present invention relates to a profiled door for furniture and the like, in particular of towed or self-propelled vehicles equipped as spaces for more or less extended stays, such as mobile homes and caravans.

There are known doors for furniture that are made of material such as plastic or wood and are formed from a substantially rectangular plate that is

a frame made generally of the same material and allows the storage space to be closed.

These panels can have a constant thickness and a flat surface, which makes them particularly light, but at the expense of the robustness and rigidity of the structure and the aesthetic impression.

Alternatively, panels are known which have an outwardly profiled surface defined by a kind of full bulge which makes the door or gate, whatever it may be, more rigid and creates a more pleasant aesthetic impression.

In this second case, however, the storage volume of the furniture is not changed because the thickness varies depending on the width and depth of the bulge which, being full or solid, does not increase the available storage space.

These panels are therefore not free from disadvantages, including the fact that they require an increase in the material used to create the bulge, which consequently means an increase in weight, they are therefore necessarily more expensive and

do not allow, as stated, to increase the storage volume of the furniture.

The main object of the present invention is to eliminate the above-mentioned disadvantages of the known doors and to provide a profiled door for furniture and the like which is light enough, but at the same time has good rigidity, requires a small amount of material, has an almost constant weight regardless of the width of the profiling and has a beautiful aesthetic appearance.

It should be noted, among other things, that weight plays a decisive role in furniture for vehicles such as mobile homes, caravans and the like, i.e. where certain values must be strictly observed.

In view of this technical problem, a further object of the present invention is to solve the above-mentioned objects with a simple structure with relatively easy practical operability, safe use and efficient functionality at relatively limited costs.

These tasks are solved by the present profiled door for furniture and the like, which thereby

characterized in that it comprises a support frame for a panel of substantially constant thickness having an outward-facing concave curvature with a truncated pyramid profile with rounded edges, the curvature being suitable for increasing the storage space of the furniture.

Further features and advantages of the present invention will become clearer from the detailed description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of a profiled door for furniture and the like, which is shown by way of illustration but not of a limiting nature in the accompanying figures.

In Figures 3 to 5 and 7, 1 denotes a profiled door according to the invention for furniture and the like.

The door 1 is formed from a support frame 2 and a plate 3 of constant thickness, which has an outward-facing hollow curvature 4 and a truncated pyramid profile with rounded edges.

This curvature 4 makes it possible both to stiffen the structure without changing the thickness of the panel 3 and to increase the storage space of the furniture.

All this is not possible with the known doors S of Figures 1 and 2: the panel Pl of Figure 1 is in fact flat, does not allow any increase in the storage volume and is easily deformed, whereas the panel P2 of Figure 1 has an outward curvature C2 which is full, heavy and serves only aesthetic purposes.

In the embodiments of Fig. 3 and 5, the

and can be inserted and clamped into the respective inner groove 6 of the frame 2.

In the alternative embodiment of Fig. 4, the edge 5 of the plate 3 rests against the inner surface of the frame 2 and is held connected to it by means of conventional fastening means such as adhesive or the like.

The plate 3 is made by compression molding from material such as wood and its derivatives; advantageously, its thickness is kept independent of the depth of the curvature 4, which can vary according to requirements.

From the comparison of the alternative embodiments in Figures 3, 4 and 7 it is possible to increase the depth of the curvature 4 from the value X1 (Figures 3 and 4) to the general value X2 (Fig. 7) in order to obtain a gain in the storage volume of the furniture, although the quantity and weight of the material used is kept almost unchanged.

In the example of Fig. 6 it can be seen that the known profiled door P3 has a deeper curvature C3 compared to the curvature C2 of the example of Fig. 2: this variant means a further increase in weight and material consumed, which, in contrast, is not the case with door 1.

It has been established in practice how the door according to the invention solves the tasks set, that is to say, it is extremely light with a particularly elegant aesthetic appearance and is profiled in such a way that the storage volume of the furniture is increased while keeping the weight constant.

The invention thus constructed is susceptible to numerous modifications and variations, all of which fall within the scope of the inventive concept.

In addition, all details can be replaced by other, technically equivalent ones.

In practice, the materials used, as well as the shapes and dimensions, may be any as required, without thereby falling outside the scope of the following claims.

Claims (7)

1. Profiled door for furniture and the like, characterized in that it comprises a support frame ( 2 ) for a panel ( 3 ) of substantially constant thickness, which has an outwardly facing hollow curvature ( 4 ) with a truncated pyramid profile with rounded edges, the curvature ( 4 ) being suitable for increasing the storage space of the furniture. 2. Door according to claim 1, characterized in that the peripheral edge ( 5 ) of the plate ( 3 ) is substantially flat. 3. Door according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the panel ( 3 ) is made of material such as wood and/or its derivatives. 4. Door according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the thickness of the plate ( 3 ) is kept constant and that the depth of the curvature ( 4 ) is variable as required. 5. Door according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the edge ( 5 ) can be inserted and clamped into a respective inner groove ( 6 ) of the frame ( 2 ). 6. Door according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the edge ( 5 ) rests in abutment on the inner surface of the frame ( 2 ) and is connected to it by means of fastening means. 7. Door according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the plate ( 3 ) is produced by compression molding.
