The invention relates to a door or a window with at least one frame that can be inserted into a wall opening and at least one sash frame mounted therein, wherein profile areas of the frame on the outside overlap profile areas of the sash frame and profile areas of the frame on the inside are covered by profile areas of the sash frame and wherein external profiles of both the frame and the sash frame are each connected to internal profiles of the frame or the sash frame via insulating elements.

Such a door or window construction is known from DE 44 23 944 A1 and is used primarily in prison cells. For this reason, the known construction has cladding profiles on the inside of the room, which are arranged on the inside of the legs of the sash frame and/or the frame and cover these legs - at least partially. The cladding profiles are reinforced compared to the other profiles of the window construction and are intended to prevent the window from being forced open from the inside using hand-operated tools (e.g. screwdrivers or crowbars).

Furthermore, such prison cell windows and doors are also required to have no fastening options on the inside, for example for any kind of strangulation device, in order to accommodate people at risk of suicide in the cells equipped with them. For this reason, the cladding profiles of the casement frame overlap those of the frame on the inside, as does a sealing profile attached to a glazing bead, which rests against the glass pane with sealing strips. This is intended to protect the rebate area and a stop seal arranged there, and to prevent the sealing profile from being torn out of the glass pane.

The cladding profiles are connected to the casement and the frame using screws, the heads of which are always covered and inaccessible when the casement is closed. This means that unauthorized dismantling of the cladding profiles when the window or door is closed is impossible. In principle, it is also possible to retrofit existing window or door constructions with such cladding profiles in order to be able to accommodate people at risk of suicide in the associated cells, for example.

The window known from DE 44 23 944 A1 is also provided with a movable plate that can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the associated profile and, depending on its position, blocks or opens a circular insertion opening for a gear handle for operating the window. The plate is mounted in an undercut groove in the cladding profile and is provided with a bolt that protrudes perpendicularly from the plane of the plate. This is connected to a rack that can be moved up and down with the help of a pinion whose teeth mesh with the teeth of the rack.

The sash frame can be turned, tilted or folded using a push rod that is guided in an undercut groove in the leg. To do this, however, it is necessary to first move the plate into a position that releases the opening by operating the pinion in order to then be able to insert the gear handle with which the push rod can be operated.

a small, inconspicuous opening to be provided in the cladding profile, which is arranged in the viewing plane of the sash frame.

The invention is based on the object of proposing a window or a door suitable for use in detention cells for accommodating persons at risk of suicide, which is characterized by its simple construction and yet can easily withstand the loads exerted by hand-operated tools.

Starting from the door or window of the type described at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention in that a profile forming an inner surface of the sash frame is designed as a box profile which is directly connected to at least one insulating element and overlaps an inner surface of the frame adjacent to the rebate with an edge strip, wherein an actuating mechanism for a turning and/or tilting fitting is provided on or in the box profile, which can be actuated by means of an actuating element which can be inserted into an insertion opening in the box profile, wherein the insertion opening can be optionally blocked or released by a locking plate movably mounted in the box profile and wherein the locking plate is movable by means of a profile cylinder whose longitudinal axis encloses an angle of 90° with the longitudinal axis of the insertion opening.

With the construction according to the invention, the connection of separate cladding profiles with the other cover or sash frame legs can be completely dispensed with. Instead, the entire sash frame structure, which extends inside the insulating elements, consists of a box profile. The associated basic profile is not possible with the construction according to the invention. This construction therefore meets the requirements for preventing suicides as well as for preventing break-ins in an equally good manner.

By combining the base profile and the cladding profile placed on it - as known from DE 44 21 944 A1 - into a one-piece box profile, it is possible to mount the profile cylinder in such a way that its longitudinal axis runs parallel to the glazing plane and thus forms an angle of 90° with the central axis of the insertion opening for the actuating element. However, the longitudinal axis of the profile cylinder also runs parallel to the plane of the locking plate, making its operation much easier. Complicated driver devices or a 90° deflection of the force flow between the profile cylinder and the locking plate can be completely dispensed with in the design according to the invention. For this reason, the door or window according to the invention can be manufactured in a comparatively cost-effective manner despite its high safety qualities.

If the box profile has a substantially L-shaped cross-section, the section modulus in two perpendicular bending planes is very high. A box profile of this type cannot be bent using hand-operated lever tools, so that the fold area is reliably protected against unauthorized manipulation. This protection of the fold area also increases suicide protection, since the lack of flexibility means that no fastening options can be created for strangulation devices, such as those formed by gaps or cracks.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the box profile has a wall thickness in the areas facing the interior of the room that is at least 1.5 times the wall thickness in the other areas of the box profile. In this way, the profile can be made lighter overall than if all areas had the same wall thickness. The section modulus around the longitudinal axis of the particularly vulnerable L-leg, which overlaps part of the frame, is therefore particularly large.

If the L-leg overlapping the rebate also has an L-shaped cross-section, a particularly thick sash frame can be achieved, so that the installation of very thick glass panes is also possible. Despite the great thickness of the sash frame, the thickness of the L-leg overlapping the rebate area can be kept comparatively low, since the L-leg facing the frame reliably covers the rebate area even with frame profiles with a standard cross-section. In this way, an overall U-shaped cross-section of the box profile is obtained, the large extension of which in a direction perpendicular to the pane plane allows not only the use of thick glass panes but also, for example, the accommodation of fittings and locks.

In a further development of the invention, it is provided that the L-leg overlapping the fold is provided with an edge strip that covers a stop seal in an inaccessible manner. This reliably prevents the stop seal from being torn out, which could be used as a strangulation device, for example.

formed glazing bead, on which a pane of glass can be supported via a glazing wedge. In comparison to separate, subsequently inserted glazing beads, this type of one-piece glazing bead with the box profile offers much greater strength. In order to be able to use different glass thicknesses, the glazing bead must be cut to the appropriate length, and when the box profile is manufactured, it must be of such a length that the thinnest possible glazing can be supported. Since the one-piece glazing bead necessarily extends into the area of the glazing, the glass pane can only be installed from the outside of the door or window.

If the glazing bead and the glazing wedge are covered by a cover strip that extends essentially to the surface of the glazing facing the interior of the room, which is L-shaped in cross-section and can be inserted into an adapted groove in the box profile, unauthorized removal of the glazing wedge can also be reliably prevented. The cover strip itself is advantageously glued into the groove and therefore cannot be removed by unauthorized persons.

In view of the task of not encouraging suicide attempts due to the design, it is particularly advantageous if the cover strip, when inserted, is flush with the corresponding surface of the box profile.

Finally, according to the invention, it is also proposed to provide the closure plate with a rack whose teeth point away from the interior of the room, wherein the profile cylinder, which is flush with the box profile, has a pinion adapted to the rack.

This creates a very simple way of driving a sliding locking plate. Since this drive is very direct due to the engagement of the pinion in the rack, any other deflection and drive means can be dispensed with. This in turn reduces costs.

The possibility of mounting the profile cylinder with its longitudinal axis parallel to the glazing plane is created in particular by the fact that the base profile and the cladding profile in the construction according to the invention are combined to form a one-piece box profile which has a correspondingly large installation space perpendicular to the glazing plane.

The frame 2 consists of an outer profile part 5, which is coupled to an inner profile part 7 via two insulating elements 6 designed as insulating webs. The sash frame 3 has an essentially L-shaped box profile 8 on the inside, which is also connected to a solid central profile 10 via two insulating elements 6 and 9 designed as insulating webs. This central profile 10 is positively connected to an outer cover shell profile 11, whereby this connection is additionally fixed using a countersunk screw 12.

A leg 13 of the cover shell profile 11, which is flush with the outer profile part 5 of the frame 2, covers an edge area of the glazing 4 after it has been installed from the outside of the window 1. The glazing 4 is supported on the cover shell profile 11 by a glass seal 14.

On the outside, a hollow leg 15 of the outer profile part 5 of the frame 2 overlaps a recessed leg of the Z-shaped cover shell profile 11 as well as the countersunk head screw 12 located therein.

On the inside of the window 1, an L-leg 16 of the box profile 8 overlaps a section of the inner profile part 7 of the frame 5, the L-leg 16 also being L-shaped in cross section. With its free end, the L-leg 16 extends almost to the inward-facing surface of the inner profile part 7 of the frame 5, a stop seal 17 being covered inaccessibly by a solid edge strip 18 of the L-leg 16.

The box profile 8 has a glazing bead 20 formed integrally with an L-leg 19 facing the glazing 4, which is supported on the inside of the glazing 4 via a glazing wedge 21.

Since the same cover shell profile 11 is to be used for all types of glazing 4, it is necessary to cut the glazing bead 20 to the correct length according to the thickness of the glazing 4.

A cover strip 23 with an angled cross-section is inserted into a groove 22 of the box profile 8 and glued to it. The cover strip 23 extends with an L-shaped leg almost to the inside of the glazing 4 and therefore covers the glazing wedge 21 in an inaccessible manner. Furthermore, this L-shaped leg of the cover strip 23 ends flush with the surface 24 of the box profile 8 facing away from the frame 2.

In order to obtain a particularly large section modulus about its longitudinal axis, the box profile 8 has a wall thickness in the areas facing the interior of the room that is approximately 1.5 times the wall thickness in the other areas of the box profile 8. In this way, bending away of the L-leg 16 is impossible even when manipulated with lever tools, so that an inner rebate area of the window 1 is inaccessible.

Both the inner profile part 7 of the frame 2 and the box profile 8 of the sash frame 3 are connected to locking elements 25 and 26, which can be brought into positive engagement with one another by displacement in the longitudinal direction of the frame profiles. While the locking elements 25 of the frame 2 are firmly connected to its inner profile part 2, the locking element 26 of the sash frame 3 is coupled to a push rod 27, which is slidably mounted in an adapted groove within the L-leg 19 of the box profile 8.

As can be seen from Fig. 3, the push rod 27 is provided with a toothing which engages with a matching toothing 28 which is located on a pinion 29 of a rotary/tilting gear 30. The drive of the rotary/tilting gear

is carried out via an actuating element (not shown in Fig. 3) which can be inserted with its actuating shaft into a suitable opening 31 in the rotary/tilting gear 30 and can thus be coupled with the pinion 29 in a force-locking manner. In the box profile 8 there is an insertion opening 32 for the actuating element which in Fig. 3 is aligned with a corresponding insertion opening 33 in a closure plate 34. The closure plate 34 is longitudinally displaceable in a suitable chamber of the box profile 8 and serves to close the insertion opening 32 in order to prevent any fastening possibility for strangulation means when the actuating element is removed.

From Fig. 2 it can be seen that the locking plate 34 is actuated by means of a profile cylinder 35, the longitudinal axis of which extends parallel to the glazing plane and thus forms an angle of 90° with the central axis of the insertion opening 32. The profile cylinder 35 is approximately flush on the inside with the surface 24 of the box profile 8 and therefore offers no possibility of fastening any means of strangulation - apart from its harmless insertion opening for a security key.

Inside the box profile 8, the profile cylinder 35 is provided with a pinion 36, the teeth of which mesh with corresponding teeth of a rack 37, which is firmly connected to the locking plate 34. By rotating the security key inserted into the profile cylinder, a vertical displacement of the locking plate 34 can be achieved, which in only one position releases the actuation opening 32 in the box profile 8 and otherwise blocks it from the inside of the box profile 8. The profile cylinder 35 is attached to a profile cylinder holder 39 connected to the box profile 8 using a countersunk screw 38.

Claims (9)

1. Door or window with at least one frame that can be inserted into a wall opening and at least one sash frame mounted therein, wherein profile areas of the frame on the outside overlap profile areas of the sash frame and profile areas of the frame on the inside are covered by profile areas of the sash frame and wherein external profiles of both the frame and the sash frame are each connected to inner profiles of the frame or the sash frame via insulating elements, characterized in that a profile forming an inner surface of the sash frame ( 3 ) is designed as a box profile ( 8 ) which is directly connected to at least one insulating element ( 6 , 9 ) and overlaps an inner surface of the frame ( 2 ) adjacent to the rebate with an edge strip, wherein an actuating mechanism for a turning and/or tilting fitting is provided on or in the box profile ( 8 ), which can be actuated by means of an actuating member that can be inserted into an insertion opening ( 32 ) in the box profile ( 8 ), wherein the insertion opening ( 32 ) can be selectively locked or unlocked by a closure plate ( 34 ) movably mounted in the box profile ( 8 ), and wherein the closure plate ( 34 ) is movable by means of a profile cylinder ( 35 ) whose longitudinal axis forms an angle of 90° with the longitudinal axis of the insertion opening ( 32 ). 2. Door or window according to claim 1, characterized in that the box profile ( 8 ) has a substantially L-shaped cross-section. 3. Door or window according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the box profile ( 8 ) has a wall thickness in the areas facing the interior of the room which is at least 1.5 times the wall thickness in the other areas of the box profile ( 8 ). 4. Door or window according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the L-leg ( 16 ) overlapping the fold also has an L-shaped cross-section. 5. Door or window according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the L-leg ( 16 ) overlapping the fold is provided with an edge strip ( 18 ) which inaccessibly covers a stop seal ( 17 ). 6. Door or window according to one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the L-leg ( 19 ) connected to at least one insulating element ( 6 , 9 ) is provided on its side facing a glazing ( 4 ) with a glazing bar ( 20 ) formed integrally with the box profile ( 8 ), on which a glass pane can be supported via a glazing wedge ( 21 ). 7. Door or window according to claim 6, characterized in that the glass strip ( 20 ) and the glazing wedge ( 21 ) are covered by a cover strip ( 23 ) which extends essentially as far as the surface of the glazing ( 4 ) facing the interior of the room, which is L-shaped in cross section and can be inserted into an adapted groove ( 22 ) in the box profile ( 8 ). 8. Door or window according to claim 7, characterized in that the cover strip ( 23 ) in the inserted state is flush with the associated surface ( 24 ) of the box profile ( 8 ). 9. Door or window according to one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the closure plate ( 34 ) is provided with a rack ( 37 ) whose teeth point away from the interior of the room, the profile cylinder ( 35 ) which is flush with the box profile ( 8 ) having a pinion ( 36 ) adapted to the rack ( 37 ).
