Cosmetic and dermatological topical preparation containing vegetable oils and green tea for the care, treatment and/or prophylaxis of irritated skin, in particular neurodermatitis, psoriasis, infections (viruses, bacteria, fungi), itching, as well as signs of skin aging and atrophy.

The present invention relates to cosmetic and dermatological topical preparations containing vegetable oils, zinc oxide, urea and green tea.

According to a survey of pharmacists, it is not currently state of the art to combine urea, tannins and zinc oxide as active ingredients in creams and ointment bases. From a pharmaceutical point of view, this is not done because urea is said to have a corneal softening effect, while zinc oxide and tannins are said to have an astringent (contracting) effect, which theoretically cancel each other out. This is to be expected above all if the respective proportions of the substances in the emulsion are approximately the same, or do not differ significantly. For this reason, this combination is not considered helpful and is therefore not currently found on the German pharmaceutical market.

It has now been found that, contrary to all theoretical considerations, a combination of zinc oxide, urea and tannins has particularly beneficial and, moreover, astonishing effects on neurodermatitis skin, psoriasis and sensitive skin in general. The following effects were observed in the volunteers after using the agent according to the invention:

In addition, creams and ointments known to date for the care of human skin contain various synthetically produced active ingredients, as well as active ingredients from nature, which, in addition to the intended effect, often have allergenic potential. Such ingredients have been deliberately avoided. These include, for example, preservatives, Asteraceae (e.g. chamomile, marigold), tea tree oil, etc.

The role of lanolin or wool wax alcohols as a frequent component of emulsions is also not undisputed. Lanolin is a substance that is obtained when sheep's wool is cleaned. It is the wool fat of sheep, which is secreted by the sheep's skin. The problem associated with lanolin, in addition to its allergenic potential, is that sheep's wool is treated with pesticides to protect the sheep from too many vermin. Due to their fat-loving properties, the pesticides are inevitably bound in the lanolin and thus become a component of the emulsion.

Furthermore, the recipe uses high-quality vegetable oils (sunflower oil, almond oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, evening primrose oil, etc.) and avoids products from the petroleum industry, such as: paraffins of all kinds, Vaseline, etc., which still make up the majority of cosmetic products.

A further feature of the present invention is therefore to provide the skin with non-allergenic ingredients in order to spare it unnecessary irritation and to enable optimal regeneration.

An essential substance contained in the present inventive agent is urea. Urea is a natural substance produced by the body from protein metabolism. In the horny layer of healthy skin, urea is located in the cells, and body sweat also contains this substance. Urea is an important moisture regulator for the skin, which means that it is crucial for ensuring that the skin absorbs and binds enough water. However, if the skin lacks this substance, it becomes dry, rough and cracked and the fluid content decreases more and more. Dry skin is primarily characterized by a lack of urea and water. Certain skin diseases are accompanied by excessive water loss from the upper layer of the skin. In neurodermatitis, the horny layer contains too little urea from the outset, and in psoriasis (psoriasis vulgaris), the deficiency is mainly in the affected areas of the skin. Therefore, it is particularly important for these skin diseases to supply the affected skin with the missing urea. If urea is incorporated into creams and applied to dry skin, it quickly penetrates the outer horny layer and improves water retention there. At the same time, it prevents too much water from the deeper layers of skin from being released into the air. In addition, the thickened horny layer loosens so that scales can be removed more easily from the skin surface. Urea has a keratoplastic effect, i.e. keratin is not dissolved, but dispersed and thus softened. As a physiological component of the horny layer, it has a

It significantly binds moisture (moisturises) without damaging the barrier function of the stratum corneum. Urea has the property of significantly promoting the permeation of other active ingredients from creams, for example. [H.P. Fiedler, Berufsdermatosen 25 63, 1977].

Zinc oxide is insoluble in water and has a slightly alkaline effect on the skin. Pastes and creams make use of the "valve effect", i.e. it allows secretions to escape while simultaneously protecting surface moisture. Zinc oxide has an astringent effect and is considered to be antimicrobial and antiseptic. Cosmetic preparations are given UV-absorbing, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties by zinc oxide.

The extremely skin-friendly cetyl alcohol was used in the present inventive agent because its composition is very similar to human skin fat. It has been proven that cetyl alcohol is naturally contained in human sebaceous gland secretions. As a component of emulsions, it is easily absorbed by the skin and is also well tolerated by allergy sufferers.

Naturally grown products such as teas, oak bark, etc., as well as artificial tannins can be used as tannins. Pastor Kneipp described tannins as anti-inflammatory and anti-itching agents. Tannins from oak bark were particularly highly valued. Tannins can be used to treat eczema in a natural way. When the eczema skin is wet, there is tissue fluid in the cracks in the skin. The tannin causes the proteins in the tissue fluid to coagulate, which is the essence of tanning. This creates a fine film over the open areas of skin. This film binds the proteins and the substances that cause inflammation and itching (and thus inactivates them). In this way, the tannin has an anti-itching effect.

Anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory and also helps reduce swelling in the skin.

The product according to the invention uses tannins that come from green tea. The reason for this is that, in addition to tannins, green tea contains a combination of many substances that, taken together, have an extremely beneficial effect on the skin. Green tea is available in numerous varieties on the market, which can be differentiated according to the growing region: Gunpowder, Bancha, Chun Mee, green Assam, green Darjeeling, Gu Zhang Mao Jian, Sencha, Gyokuro, Hyson, Ju Hua Sha, Lu Shan Wu, Lung Shing, Matcha, Pi Lo Chung, Oolong, white tea.

Tannins belong to the group of polyphenols, which also includes epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is said to have an antimicrobial effect. The beneficial effect of tannins on sensitive skin in general should not be underestimated. The tannins in green tea protect the skin from new infections by tanning the skin, i.e. by contracting the skin and making its surface harder. Regular external applications of skin care products based on green tea "tan" the skin, making it more resistant to environmental influences and toxins.

An important property of green tea is that it can capture free radicals. The radical capturers in green tea include vitamin C, vitamin E, some carotenoids, flavonoids and some tannins. Nature has found an ingenious combination of these substances in green tea.

The role of vitamin C in green tea is special, as it is found there in a high concentration and in an extremely stable form. What is particularly interesting is the fact that the high concentration of vitamin C in green tea can still be detected even after heating. Normally, vitamin C is one of those biological substances that are very sensitive.

react to heat, light and storage. In green tea, the vitamin C is coupled with substances that offer it effective protection. In this way, the vitamin C can reliably develop its anti-inflammatory effect.

Another key property of green tea is its antimicrobial, fungicidal and anti-inflammatory effects. The substances responsible for this are bioflavonoids and saponins. Green tea also contains substances that are highly effective against viruses. Its combination of bioflavonoids and vitamin C is particularly beneficial. Saponins are particularly important because they have been able to prove their fungicidal properties in various studies. Saponins have a strong tendency to bind fats to themselves. This enables them to "crack" the fatty outer walls of the fungi. External applications with green tea therefore represent a very serious alternative in the treatment of athlete's foot and fungal skin diseases.

The trace element zinc contained in green tea also has an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effect, which is also responsible for the effect of zinc oxide described above.

Due to the antiseptic properties of green tea and zinc oxide described above, the agent according to the invention contains compounds that prevent the growth of microorganisms. Even after prolonged use, no growth of microorganisms can be observed on the skin cosmetic.

The water phase is prepared using green tea. All percentages are by weight. The above-mentioned components are preferably mixed together in the following proportions:

When preparing the water phase (e.g. 150g), which contains green tea, the procedure is the same as that required for preparing green tea: 200-220g of water are first boiled. After the water has cooled to a temperature of 70 degrees Celsius, the green tea leaves (e.g. 11-13g) are poured with this water and left to steep for at least 8 minutes. At the end of the steeping process, the tea leaves and water are separated using a sieve, i.e. 150g of green tea water is removed for the water phase through this process. The tea water obtained in this way forms the basis of the water phase. Since some percentage of the water remains in the green tea leaves, the amount of water used for the infusion must exceed the amount ultimately aimed for in the water phase.

The water phase thus obtained is then further processed, as is required for cream production. This care product according to the invention is an emulsion with a special property, which consists in the fact that it slides down metals (e.g. commercially available tablespoons or teaspoons) and glass without leaving any residue and practically no residue. This effect can only be observed with exactly this proportion of the individual ingredients.

Test results with volunteers:

volunteers took part in the test, with almost all participants confirming that the care product according to the invention has a special consistency that leaves an unusually pleasant feeling on the skin after the first application.

• 39 out of 40 people reported a reduction in itching just a few seconds after applying the care product.

• In an 8-week-old baby who developed a blistering rash on his face and body, the application of the care product according to the invention led to the rash regressing within a few days. This was the case after treatment with other medicinal ointments had been discontinued without success. After two weeks of use, the baby is now enjoying: excellent skin, which gives cause for great satisfaction.

• A test subject who had been suffering from neurodermatitis and prurigo for 14 years and who had not experienced any symptom-free periods during the course of the disease experienced a complete reduction in all symptoms within a few weeks after regular use of the care product according to the invention. This freedom from symptoms, which was the first time for the test subject, has remained stable over a period of several months, with no signs of deterioration in the condition being apparent. The reduction in neurodermatitis scars and the general atrophy of the skin, which had developed as a result of years of cortisone use, was astonishing and unexpected. Today, the skin is impressive.

• A patient suffering from psoriasis with a particularly severe appearance in the leg area was able to notice a significant improvement in the skin condition on the treated leg after just 3 days of applying the product according to the invention (half-side test), which continued with further use.

Finally, it should be said that the agent according to the invention is particularly well suited for the gentle care of irritated skin in general and for the treatment of neurodermatitis and psoriatic skin, without any habituation effect being observed in this context after months of use. Furthermore, due to the special active ingredient combination of tannins, urea, zinc oxide and the other ingredients described, the agent according to the invention can also be used excellently for the care of healthy skin, for delaying signs of aging of the skin, for promoting fine pores, etc. The extremely excellent results with regard to irritated skin in infants also prove the very good general tolerability of the agent according to the invention.
