Safety lock for the press shaft door of waste balers

The innovation relates to a safety lock for waste baling presses according to the generic term of protection claim 1.

In addition to such locking devices with hydraulically operated elements, manual devices in a wide variety of designs have long been known in practice. The most significant disadvantage of the latter types is that the press shaft door can only be opened after a pressed bale has been finished with a great deal of force, resulting from the pressure of the bale on the front door; in many cases, the protection for the operators with manual locking devices has so far been very inadequate and accidents can occur due to the doors suddenly springing open under the bale's (expansion) pressure.

The aim of this innovation is therefore to create a user-friendly and at the same time absolutely secure door lock using simple and at the same time functionally reliable means and measures.

This task is already solved by the design specified in claim 1; the subclaims contain advantageous further developments and design features of the innovation, which are also shown in a drawing.

From the representations in Fig. 1 and 2, the press housing 1 with one of the side walls 2 and the press shaft door 3 with its frame reinforcement 3a can be seen as a partial area. The safety lock, which is located in the corner area of the housing 1 at about half the height, is characterized according to the innovation by the combination of at least one handwheel 4, 4a with adjusting spindle 5 and locking pin 6 on the press housing 1 as well as at least one corresponding locking claw 8 on the press shaft door 3 and a ratchet 7 assigned to the handwheel 4, 4a. In a special structural design, it is also provided that the handwheel 4, 4a, adjusting spindle 5, ratchet 7 and locking pin 6 form a structural unit arranged in a horizontal plane so as to be pivotable on one of the side walls 2 of the press housing 1 and the ratchet 7, a only

has a freewheel 7a that allows for an effective direction (door opening). The flywheel handwheel therefore enables long distances to be quickly overcome when opening and closing, while the ratchet only has the working or effective positions of idle and open. A further structural design is that the ratchet 7 together with its operating arm 7b sits directly on the hollow shaft 4a of the handwheel 4 and the operating arm 7b, due to the freewheel element 4a, always points towards the bottom of the press support surface when in the resting state; there are therefore no annoying levers or the like in the range of movement of the operators. A further functional and safety feature is that the locking pin 6 and locking claw 8, including the inlet slope 8a, are designed as two-armed and the latter 8 are firmly attached to the frame 3a of the press shaft door 3, whereby the pivot bearing 9 of the handwheel 4 and adjusting spindle 5 is advantageously covered by a shielding plate 10 on the press housing 1, 2 towards the front of the press.

Safety lock for the press shaft door of waste presses, in particular for the front door facing the filling side on presses with a vertically acting press ram, characterized by 10 the combination of at least one handwheel (4, 4a) with adjusting spindle (5) and locking pin (6) on the press housing (1) as well as at least one corresponding locking claw (8) on the press shaft door (3) and a ratchet (7) associated with the handwheel (4, 4a). Safety device according to claim 2, characterized by , that the ratchet (7) together with its operating arm (7b) sits directly on the hollow shaft (4a) of the handwheel (4) and the operating arm (7b) always points towards the floor of the press installation area when in the resting state due to the freewheel element (4a). 4. Safety device according to the preceding claims, characterized by 5 that the locking pin ( 6 ) and locking claw ( 8 ) together with the inlet slope ( 8a ) are designed with two arms and the latter ( 8 ) are firmly attached to the frame ( 3a ) of the press shaft door ( 3 ). 5. Safety device according to the previous claims, characterized by 15 that the pivot bearing (9) of the handwheel (4) and adjusting spindle (5) is covered towards the front of the press by a shielding plate (10) located on the press housing (1,2).
