The invention relates to a loudspeaker basket,

which has means for quick and elastic fastening, allowing its rapid pressure mounting in standardised holes generally provided on the structures of vehicles.

The current industry policy for vehicle and/or aggregate assembly, such as the assembly of passenger cars or similar, provides that assembly preparation for car radio/loudspeaker systems is always present or is installed in series.

Feasibility and economic studies are therefore currently being carried out in this regard. In particular, there is still a need to be able to install the loudspeakers by hand easily, safely, quickly and without special tools and/or the use of manpower in the standardised holes provided for this purpose, which are generally provided in the bodies of passenger cars or similar.

The invention is based on the object of meeting the above-mentioned requirements.

automatically positioning loudspeaker basket, which achieves the following results: the basket, preferably made of plastic material or similar, has peripheral elastic or non-elastic or mixed elements that engage by pressure with the edge of the standardized holes provided for mounting the loudspeakers and made in series on the current bodies or similar; the basket optionally has centering means, such as expansion bolts, that interact with the corresponding holes made on the bodies; the basket has peripheral holes that constitute the traditional screw fastening means for the loudspeakers.

The advantages achieved by the invention consist essentially in the fact that the loudspeakers provided with the basket according to the invention can be attached by pressure in a simple, quick and economical manner without the use of special accessories directly to the standardized holes provided for this purpose, generally made in series on specific parts of vehicle bodies.

A further task is to enable rapid automatic positioning of the loudspeakers on their intended supports and to facilitate the subsequent connection to them by screwing in a quick and simple manner without the need for manual assistance or accessories, thus resulting in drastic reductions in assembly times.

The figures show a loudspeaker basket with means for automatic positioning, which is essentially designed as a traditional element 1 for supporting, connecting and holding together the basic structural part 2 of the loudspeaker. The basket has, in its peripheral area 3, elastic elements 6 for connection to the standardized holes 4 arranged on body parts 5, such as the doors of passenger cars or other specific parts.

The basket 1 is preferably, but not exclusively, made of elastic material, such as plastic, sheet steel or similar.

In its complete structure, active part 2 and basket 1, the loudspeaker can thus be mounted by applying pressure in the standardized holes 4; to do this, it is sufficient to bring the rear part of the basket 1 into contact with the peripheral surface of a hole 4 so as to associate the elastic elements 6 with it. It is then sufficient to apply pressure to the loudspeaker to cause elastic deformation of the elastic elements 6, their sliding past the peripheral surface of the hole and their elastic re-deformation, which are thus associated with said hole.

A possible centering lug 7, which may be conical, is arranged in alignment with a corresponding hole 8 provided on the body part 5. In this way, during the pressure with which the basket 2 is inserted into the hole 4, the lug 7 engages in the corresponding hole 8, thus giving the whole the desired alignment.

In this way, the loudspeaker is pre-assembled in a simple, quick manner and without the use of special measures, such as tools or manual assistance.

The speakers, thus automatically positioned, can then be fixed by inserting the screws into the holes 9 of the basket, which are adapted to the holes 10 provided on the support structure 5. Thanks to the automatic positioning provided, the phase of fixing with the screws is also extremely easy and quick to carry out, without the need for special tools and without

mechanical and/or manual support of the individual parts would be required, resulting in a considerable reduction in time and considerable economic savings.

The rear part of the basket 1 may optionally have an upper protective collar 11, useful for protecting the loudspeaker from possible rainwater drops, particularly when mounted on a door in a motor vehicle. In an embodiment with a basket made of plastic material, such as ABS, ABS-polycarbonate plus polycarbonate or similar, the elastic elements 6 may be molded from the same material as the basket 1 and integrated into it. Alternatively, they may be made of different materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum or similar, each of which is connected to the basket by pressing or snap-fit connections or other means known per se. Another possibility is to make the baskets 1 from another elastic material, such as sheet steel or similar.

According to a further solution according to the invention, the connecting elements, instead of being elastic, can consist of solid and rigid fastening tabs, of which at least one, preferably the upper fastening tab 6', is larger and has a deep recess 12 underneath, so that the introduction of the basket into the hole 4 is possible by locking this tab while rotating the basket and subsequently pushing its lower part into the same until it extends beyond the lower fastening tabs 6", and then slightly lowering the basket in such a way that the said lower fastening tabs 6" also come into contact with the edge of the said hole; in this case too, at least one centering lug 7 can be present.

Figures 7 to 9, on the other hand, show an additional fixing ring 13, the function of which is to transform the loudspeakers of the traditional type, i.e. without means for automatic positioning, into loudspeakers with means that essentially correspond to those described above and shown in Figures 1 to 6.

The fastening ring 13 is designed in such a way that it can be placed on a traditional loudspeaker 2 from behind and can be connected as a profile to the flange of the basket of the traditional loudspeaker.

The connection can be made by snapping the peripheral surface 14 of the central hole of the fastening ring 13 onto the corresponding peripheral edge of the traditional basket of the loudspeaker.

Alternatively, the connection can be obtained by gluing or riveting the said fixing ring 13 onto the flange of the traditional basket of the loudspeaker. The fixing ring 13 is preferably, but not restrictively, provided with fixing lugs 15 with holes 9' aligned with the holes 9 of the traditional basket.

Associated with them are the completely identical peripheral elastic elements 6 or 6' and 6", which are identical or correspond to those described and shown for the integral type solution.

It is clear that once the fixing ring 13 has been fitted to a traditional loudspeaker, the latter also has integral automatic positioning means available for the use already described.

Each solution described, which is given purely as a non-limiting example, ensures the automatic, efficient positioning of the loudspeakers in a simple, direct and rapid manner in the standardised holes intended for them.

The invention has been described and explained with reference to the embodiments, but it is clear to the person skilled in the art that various changes in the shape, type and arrangement as well as the structure of the basket and the connecting means can be made without departing from the scope of the invention.

A basket (1) for loudspeakers (2) made of plastic material or similar, comprising quick fastening devices (6) which allow rapid assembly, which is facilitated by the set of standardized holes (4) provided on bodies, body parts (5) of motor vehicles, watercraft and the like.

The basket may also have centering lugs (7) if necessary.

The pre-assembly of the loudspeakers provided with the basket according to the invention is carried out by pressing or snapping in place, using the elasticity of the above-mentioned means (6). After insertion into the standardized holes (4), the workers can complete the fastening of the loudspeakers (2) to the bodies or similar using traditional screw connections in parallel holes (10). The work is carried out in a simple and quick manner, with full freedom of movement for the workers, who no longer have to hold the parts with their hands.

Claims (1)

Claims, 07.07.97 Protection claims Loudspeaker basket, characterized in that it comprises integral or separate, elastic or non-elastic peripheral means (6) which can be connected by pressure or snap-fit to the edges of standardized holes (4) intended for receiving loudspeakers on bodies (5) of motor vehicles or the like, whereby automatic positioning of the loudspeaker basket takes place. Loudspeaker basket according to claim 1, characterized in that it is made of elastic material, such as ABS, polycarbonate, ABS plus polycarbonate, steel or aluminum sheet, together with the fastening elements (6) the connection of which to the edges of the standardized holes (4) takes place due to the elasticity of the said material. Loudspeaker basket according to claim 1, characterized in that the elastic or non-elastic fastening elements (6) are attached peripherally to the basket (1) by deformation, snapping, mechanical connection or the like. Loudspeaker basket according to claims 1 to 3, characterized in that it optionally has at least one centering lug (7) which engages in corresponding standardized bores (4) which are present in the prepared body parts (5). Traditional loudspeaker basket, characterized in that it further comprises a fastening ring (13) which enters into a gripping connection and centering relationship with the peripheral edge and with the flange of said basket, said fastening ring (13) being provided with elastic elements (6) or (6') and (6") which are connected by pressure or snap-in to the edges of the standardized holes (4) provided for the mounting of loudspeakers (2) on bodies of motor vehicles or the like and can thereby be positioned automatically. 9.
