Container lid and container

The invention relates to a lid for a container which is intended to hold a spread, which in turn is spread with a knife. The invention also relates to a container which is equipped with such a lid.

Margarine, butter and other fatty mixtures and other spreads intended to be used as bread spreads are usually packaged for sale in a container fitted with a removable lid. In such a container, the spread can be stored in a refrigerator and it is also possible to refrigerate the spread after

to be served in the same container without opening the lid.

A problem with the use of these previously known containers is that after use and after the container has been closed, no space is provided to accommodate the knife used to make the spread. The knife is usually put away to be washed or alternatively placed unwashed on the container inside the refrigerator to be available for reuse. However, the knife can fall off the container relatively easily. If the knife falls on the floor, it is to be expected that waste and hair will stick to the greasy knife and in this case it is not possible to use it again before washing. If the greasy knife falls on the floor or is stored in the refrigerator, it is to be expected that the greasy knife will become stained.

A container lid and a container in accordance with this invention are characterized in that the lid has a removable part which, when removed, provides a recess through which the spreading knife can be pushed.

The recess in the lid according to the present invention can be easily opened and thereby provides a place for the knife to remain when the container is placed in the refrigerator. The next time the container is placed on the table, the knife can be pulled out of the recess and the lid is pulled off the container.

When selling spreads in such a container, a usable wooden spread knife can be added to the container as an extra, for example to carry out a sales-supporting campaign.

Fig. 1 is a plan view of the container lid according to the invention, in which the recess in the lid is open; and

Fig. 2 relates to a cross section A-A in Figure 1, wherein the lid is arranged on the container and in which the recess in the lid is closed;

Fig. 4 shows a plan view of another embodiment of the container lid according to the invention in which the recess in the lid is open; and

The lid (1) is preferably made of plastic and can be made, for example, by vacuum deep drawing. The container (2) can be made, for example, of cardboard. The lid has a recess (3)

which can be opened to accommodate a spreading knife (4).

The recess (3) can be designed such that its outlines in the lid are thinner than the other areas or it can be perforated, whereby the recess is opened by pushing the knife through the lid.

Alternatively, it is also conceivable that the recess is already provided in the plastic lid and is closed by a cover strip (5) that is glued to the top. The cover strip can be made of aluminum foil, for example. A part (6) without adhesive is arranged at one end of the strip to enable it to be gripped. The part (6) can be folded above the remaining part of the cover strip (5). The recess is opened by gripping the loose end (6) of the cover strip (5) and then pulling the cover strip off the lid.

Figures 4 and 5 show a further embodiment of the invention. In this embodiment, the recess (3) extends from the side of the cover (1) and runs towards the central area.

The recess can also be left unopened in the area of the lid, which means that the same container can be reused if necessary, for example as a freezer container.
