Drinking water from the tap is becoming more and more precious and expensive, while rainwater is free. Collecting rainwater from the gutter is therefore becoming increasingly important for both households and gardens. The current options in the form of rain flaps or rain collectors in the downpipe are not suitable for filling rain barrels and large-volume containers quickly, maintenance-free, regardless of location and with optimal overflow control . - With the rain flap, it must be operated in good time and the container must be close underneath and open, which in turn leads to contamination and the formation of larvae. The disadvantages of the rain collector in the downpipe are the design-related low cross-section of the supply line (barely the thickness of a thumb!) to the container, the many individual parts such as screw connections and seals and the associated vulnerability. In both cases, the efficiency is only inadequate .
The invention of the device for collecting rainwater with a tongue-shaped tab for lateral insertion into a branch pipe, which is installed in the corresponding place in the downpipe, provides a remedy here in that all the rainwater from the downpipe is drained directly into the rain barrel or other container, regardless of size, and the backflow when the container is full is simply and ingeniously drained into the usual sewer system using the same device. All of this takes place automatically, without the need for any additional manual intervention or monitoring. The object of the invention, which can be made of metal or plastic, is designed in such a way that it consists of a round housing adapted to the inner diameter of the branch pipe (Fig. 1,2, Fig. 2,2 and Fig. 3,2) and a tongue-shaped tab running from the cross-section of the beginning of the housing to the curve of the branch pipe (Fig. 1,1, Fig. 2,1 and Fig. 3,1), which in turn runs upwards in an arc, see above. that the rainwater can be transported in a sweeping arc to the container. The tongue can also have a central opening with a collar edge to cope with extreme continuous rainfall ( F.2,6 /7).
