The present invention relates to a container for holding a liquid with a container wall which has an inner wall and an opening.

Such containers are available in a wide variety of shapes and designs. Up to now, flower vases, drinking vessels, etc. have been made of glass, ceramic, plastic, etc. However, these take up a lot of space, especially in cupboards, shelves, etc. They are also difficult to package and send as gifts, for example, because they are often fragile.

Furthermore, there are currently only limited options for printing such flower vases or vessels or for adding inscriptions and the like.

This problem is solved by the container wall consisting of at least two strips which are connected to one another via fold lines in such a way that the container wall can be folded together to form a flat package.

The present invention allows a container, which is made in particular from cardboard or cardboard-like materials, to be collapsible. The container essentially consists of a cylindrical wall, which can take on a tubular, square, diamond, triangular, polygonal or similar shape. Folding lines are provided according to the shape of the container wall, so that folding is possible, in particular in the vertical plane. As a result, the container, since it is made from elastic materials such as cardboard or the like, is folded into a flat element. This means that such containers can be stacked in large numbers while taking up very little space, so that storage and, if necessary, warehousing only requires a small amount of space.

An insert can be assigned to the container and in particular to an inner wall of the cylinder wall, which is attached to an upper opening of the inner wall of the cylinder. The insert can be made of different elastic materials, such as polyethylene, aluminum, rubber or the like. This insert is designed in such a way that it is folded up when the container is folded up inside the cylinder wall. The insert serves to hold a liquid, in particular water, so that this container can be used as a flower vase, for example.

Depending on the shape and design of the cylinder wall, a wide variety of folding lines are provided, for example to fold a container consisting of several strips in a vertical plane.

In a further embodiment of the present invention, a base is inserted into the container near a lower opening, whereby this can be, for example, conical in the folded state. The base has an outer strip which is firmly connected to the inner wall over the entire circumference of the cylinder.

So that this container can also be filled with liquid, a coating is provided on the inner wall and the base that is designed to be impermeable to liquid. This coating can be made of polyethylene, aluminum, wax, or similar. Here, too, the idea is to make this coating elastic so that the container does not become leaky when it is folded up or unfolded frequently.

Because the containers are collapsible and made of cardboard-like and possibly coated material, the outer surfaces can be printed on very easily. Suitable prints can be applied to the surface for a wide variety of purposes, particularly in the gift item sector. By designing the containers and especially the cylinder walls in different colors, an aesthetically pleasing container can be created.

Because they can be folded, such containers are suitable for sending, for example in an envelope, as greeting cards for different occasions.

The container is particularly suitable for sending as a foldable greeting card. In this respect, greeting flower vases can be set up or unfolded and filled with water, for example to hold a bouquet of flowers. Once the flowers have faded, the water can be disposed of, and after cleaning the greeting flower vase card or the foldable vase, it can be stored or put away again to save space.

Because the container can be filled with water, or an insert can be filled with water, and the container is on a flat surface, the water and in particular its gravity acts downwards and increases the pressure of the container on the surface of a table or similar. This also prevents it from collapsing again, so that this vase cannot be easily folded up or knocked over when it is full.

These containers are not only used in the giftware industry, but also in everyday life to hold liquids, especially liquid foods such as water, mineral water, juices, coffee, spirits, beer and the like.

These containers can be held better with additional handles or similar. They are used in particular at large events, as they are made of cardboard and therefore there is no risk of injury if they fall and become damaged.

These are also suitable for large events where containers are often thrown around and eliminate the risk of injury to those involved.

Furthermore, the collapsible container also offers good disposal options, as its foldability makes it very

According to Figure 1, a container R according to the invention has a closed cylinder wall 1, which is provided with openings 2, 3 at the top and bottom. The cylinder wall 1 is provided with fold lines 4.1 and 4.2, shown in dashed lines, which are arranged on the cylinder wall 1 in such a way that they divide the container R vertically and centrally.

According to the invention, an insert 5, shown in dash-dotted lines, is provided inside the cylinder wall 1 and is made of water-impermeable materials. The insert 5 is inserted like a tube into the opening 2 of the container R and is fixed to an inner wall 6 of the container in the area of the opening 2.

Because the insert 5 is made of elastic material, such as polyethylene, rubber or the like,

a strip 7.1 is folded against a strip 7.2 of the cylinder wall 1, so that a level or flat package is created from the container R. When unfolded, the container R is created again, which is particularly suitable as a flower vase due to the waterproof insert 5, particularly in the gift item sector but also as a container for drinkable liquids, such as water, juices, spirits, beer and the like.

In a further embodiment of the present invention, a container R^ is shown in Figure 2, which is round in shape according to the embodiment described above and is shown here folded up into a flat package la. The container R^ consists of the cylinder wall 1 and is provided on the inside, particularly near the opening 3, with a base 8 shown in dashed lines, which is attached to the inside of the cylinder wall 1.

Since the base 8 is preferably conical and is firmly connected to the inner wall 6 of the cylinder wall 1 by a strip 9, applying pressure to the two fold lines 4.1, 4.2 of the package 1a results in a round container with a base 8 after opening or unfolding.

The container R^ is preferably made of cardboard, cartons and the like, so that in order to fill the container R^ with liquids, in particular drinkable liquids, but also with just water, the base 8 and the inner wall 6 are lined with a coating 10. The coating 10 can consist of plastic, aluminum, wax, or a highly elastic rubber. This serves to create a seal from the inside to the outside with respect to the cylinder wall 1 and the base 8.

However, other shapes and configurations of the container 1 are also within the scope of the invention, some of which are shown in Figures 3 to 5.

In Figure 3, a container R2 is shown as a hexagonal container which has a cylinder wall 1.1, whereby the dashed lines 11 represent the fold lines of the base 8.1. Here too, it is within the scope of the invention that the container R2 only consists of the cylinder wall 1.1 and within this an insert is arranged according to Figure 1.

Figures 4 and 5 show containers R3 and R4, with a rectangular container and a triangular container each having dashed fold lines 11.1 and 11.2 in order to be able to fold the container R3, R4 into a vertical plane.
