Die im "Vortrieb" verlegte Rohrleitungsstrecke dient als Unterkonstruktion für einen Transportwagen, der auf der Rohroberfläche der bereits verlegten Rohrstrecke läuft. Der als Tragwanne ausgebildete Wagen fährt auf zwei Tragradpaaren mit einer Führung, die fest auf dem Scheitel der Rohrleitung vorübergehend oder auch endgültig befestigt ist. In diesem Fall kann die Transporteinrichtung nach dem Bau der Rohrleitung weiter verwendet werden. Am Hang kann sie mit Schwerkraft zurückrollen; in flacherem Gelände ist sie zurück zu ziehen. Dabei werden für das Fahren Umlenkrollen angeordnet, um die Last immer möglichst mittig zu ziehen. Die Tragwanne ist so ausgebildet, sowohl Rohre, wie auch anderes langes Material zu transportieren, das auf der entsprechenden Führung aufgelegt wird und an dem Tragwagen für den Transport zu befestigen ist.
