Abstract

The spanner head (2a), which extends at 15 deg. and is rigidly connected to the handle (2), has two jaws (4, 4a) with flanks (8, 8a) on the inside which are designed to be centrally positioned relative to the adjacent sides (7, 7a) of the hexagonal object (6). The front ends (20, 20a) of the jaws diverge in the outwards direction. The stop (5) for the hexagonal object is formed at a location approximately at the midpoint of the curved rear side (10b) of the spanner mouth. This curved rear side extends between two recesses (9, 9a).

Description

The invention relates to an open-end wrench for attacking hexagonal objects.

There are numerous designs of solid, one-piece open-end wrenches, with the roots and tips of the wrench jaws pressing fully or partially onto the corners of the hexagon, and if greater force is applied, the jaws can bend and the wrench can then slip through. The leverage on the front and rear corners of the hexagon can cause damage to the hexagon. A bent open-end wrench is no longer usable.

Accidents, particularly hand injuries, can occur as a result of sudden slipping.

With conventional open-end wrenches, the tips of the head extend far beyond the flanks of the hexagon, making changing the wrench time-consuming and strenuous.

In some well-known open-end wrenches, the flanks are curved towards the middle of the hexagon so that contact with the corners can be avoided, for example in US Patent 5,131,312. The larger swivel range that this results in can be a disadvantage. In addition, such open-end wrenches are not suitable for the so-called "picking" frequently used by users, which is a quick twisting of the hexagon caused only by the wrench tips being pushed on, because the flanks are further apart than usual, so that the distance between the tips is significantly greater than the distance between the edges of the hexagon.

The desired progress through curved key flanks comes at the cost of the disadvantages described above.

The object of the invention is therefore to design an open-end wrench of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that the flanks press on the corners of the hexagon edge neither on the side facing the handle (hereinafter referred to as the rear) nor on the side facing away from the handle (hereinafter referred to as the front), without the wrench flanks having to be bent.

At the same time, the manufacturing costs are to be minimized by the symmetry of the head and by the fact that the back of the head facing the handle can be cleared economically. This is designed as an approximate circular arc cutout, whereby the broach runs into the flanks of the head during clearing to create recesses under which the rear corners of the hexagon lie when the key is in use.

The flanks are bevelled at the front at the upper and lower flank ends, creating a funnel-shaped form that makes it easier to slide on without preventing "pecking".

The object is achieved according to the invention by an open-end wrench having the features of the protection claim.

The length of the flanks of the jaws of the open-end wrench is shorter than the length of the flanks of the hexagon that fits the open-end wrench, so that the flanks of the open-end wrench are approximately centered between the respective corners of the hexagon.

Open-end wrench for attacking hexagonal objects ( 6 ), comprising a wrench handle ( 2 ) and a wrench head ( 2a ) rigidly connected thereto and angled by 15°, with two wrench jaws ( 4 ) and ( 4a ) which have two flanks ( 8 ) and ( 8a ) on the inside, the length ( 19b ) of which is limited by the lines ( 19 ) and ( 19a ) and thus lie approximately centrally between the lines ( 19 ) and ( 19a ) passing through the corners ( 14 ) and ( 14a ) of a hexagon ( 6 ) on the one hand and the corners ( 12 ) and ( 12a ) on the other hand.
The front jaw tips ( 20 ) and ( 20 a) run from the inside to the outside. The back ( 10 b) forms the stop ( 5 ) approximately in the middle, from which the recesses ( 9 ) and ( 9 a) extend in an approximately part-circular manner.
