Der Wirkungsbereich eines Hohlstrahlrohres ist entscheidend vom Zuleitungsdruck abhängig. Dieser sollte gemäß Herstellerangabe 6 bar (0,6 MPa) betragen. Bei den heute eingesetzten Hohlstrahlrohren muss von der Feuerwehr eine Abschätzung der Druckverluste über die eingesetzten Schlauchlängen erfolgen und ein entsprechender höherer Druck an der Druckerhöhungspumpe eingestellt werden.
