Abstract

FOLDING BOX DESCRIPTION

The invention relates to a folding box with a surrounding box wall which has a filling/removal opening at one end and an end wall at the other end.

Such folding boxes are known from practice and are used, for example, to hold certain foods, particularly from the fast food sector. The folding box can be bag-shaped, whereby the corresponding box wall has only low strength and can only be used inadequately to hold the folding box. The food is filled into the folding box via the filling/removal opening and is also removed by a user for consumption. Opposite the filling/removal opening, the folding box is closed by a corresponding end wall, which can be designed as the base of the corresponding bag.

The bag-shaped folding box or the already known folding box made from a blank only show a low degree of dimensional stability. This makes it difficult to simply fill the folding box and then hold it securely when consuming the food. When filling the folding box, for example, the folding box must be held pressed together in a certain way with one hand so that the filling/removal opening is wide enough to fill in the corresponding food. On the other hand, when consuming the food, care must be taken to hold the folding box carefully so that the filling/removal opening is not pressed together too far to allow food to be removed, and especially when the food has already been partially consumed, the filling/removal opening is not completely closed.

Stability that makes it easier to fill and remove food, while at the same time the folding box should be simple and inexpensive to produce.

This object is achieved in connection with the features of the preamble of patent claim 1 in that at least one edge section of the box wall and/or the end wall has at least one pair of opposite wall edges which are convexly curved outwards relative to the wall section or the end wall.

Due to these outwardly convexly curved wall edges, the adjacent wall sections are curved away from the inside of the folding box, resulting in an elastic restoring force in these curved wall sections. This is directed towards the inside of the folding box and is absorbed by the wall section or the end wall with the curved wall edges. This elastic restoring force and the corresponding compensation of this force by the wall section or end wall results in inherent stability in the area of these wall sections, which stabilizes the shape of the folding box at least in this area.

Since the aforementioned wall sections at least partially surround the filling/removal opening, this dimensional stability means that the opening is also stabilized at least in some areas. This makes filling with or removing food easier, since the opening is automatically and at least partially kept open by the dimensional stability.

The dimensional stability also offers significant advantages for handling the folding box when consuming the food. If the folding box is held in the area of the wall section or the end wall with the convexly curved wall edges, the dimensional stability of the folding box in this area means that there is no fear that the folding box will be compressed by even small forces and that the filling/removal opening in particular will close as a result.

The arrangement of wall edges that are convexly curved outwards for at least one wall section or the end wall is also a simple measure that can be carried out easily and inexpensively during the manufacture of the folding box without major changes to the cut.

The dimensional stability of the folding box can be further improved by arranging the wall section and/or end wall in a curved position towards the interior of the folding box when the folding box is unfolded. In this way, the corresponding wall section or end wall can essentially snap into the curved position automatically and only by applying a corresponding counterforce from the interior of the folding box can the corresponding wall section or end wall be brought back from its curved position into a flat or even outwardly curved position. This snapping into the curved position also makes it easier to unfold the folding box from a corresponding blank and can be done with one hand if necessary.

In order to easily realize the curved position towards the interior of the folding box, at least one of the convexly curved wall edges can be concavely curved relative to the interior of the folding box.

In order to simplify the manufacture and snapping of the corresponding wall section into the curved position and at the same time to improve the appearance of the folding box, opposite wall edges of the wall section and/or the end wall can have the same convex and/or concave curvature.

It is possible for the wall section or the end wall to be concavely curved in its snapped-in position both in the longitudinal direction and in the transverse direction to the interior of the folding box. This would further increase the dimensional stability. However, to simplify production and to achieve sufficient dimensional stability, a concave curvature in the transverse direction of the wall sections is not necessary, so that the wall section and/or end wall can be perpendicular to the concave and/or convex wall edges in the

Essentially flat. This means that the concave curvature extends essentially only along the longitudinal direction of the wall section or end wall.

In order to obtain a folding box with a relatively large filling/removal opening, the box wall can be composed of two side parts, a front part and a back part, of which the two side parts are correspondingly concavely curved towards the interior of the folding box.

To further simplify the construction of the folding box, it is advantageous if the end wall is curved as the base part opposite the filling/removal opening.

In order to bring the folding box from a flat, not yet unfolded arrangement into the spatially unfolded state in a simple manner, it can be considered advantageous on the one hand if the side parts and/or base part each have a fold line running in the longitudinal direction of the wall. If, for example, appropriate pressure is exerted on two such opposing fold lines when the folding box is not yet unfolded and is arranged flat, the fold lines are brought closer together and at the same time the corresponding side parts or the base part are pressed into their inwardly curved position. This can be done easily with one hand. If both the side parts and the base part have corresponding fold lines, for example the fold line of the base part can be subjected to appropriate force after the side parts have already been unfolded into their inwardly curved position, so that the base part can also be easily pressed into a concavely curved position towards the interior of the folding box.

The production and unfolding of the folding box is further simplified if the folding line is positioned centrally.

The previously known folding boxes were not suitable for placing them on a surface and for removing foodstuffs without holding the folding box. According to the invention, it is further proposed that connecting edges of the base part and side parts are designed as support edges for placing the folding box on a surface. This makes it possible to place the folding box at least

temporarily or permanently while consuming the foodstuffs contained in the carton.

The connecting edges could be shaped in such a way that they are concavely curved towards the interior of the folding box, for example, so that only the ends of the connecting edges stand on the ground. However, it is considered advantageous both from a production point of view and for the stability of the folding box when it is in place if the connecting edge is essentially straight.

In order to further stabilize the folding box, at least two support feet that are spaced apart from one another and protrude from the folding box can protrude between the connecting edges. This essentially creates a four-point setup that ensures that the folding box stands securely.

The support feet can, for example, protrude directly from the base part or from the front or back part. However, the production of the folding box can be simplified if the support feet protrude from a wall edge of the base part that runs between the connecting edges.

In order to make the distance between the support feet as large as possible and at the same time improve the visual appearance of the folding box, the support feet can protrude in extension of the front or back part.

To simplify the removal of the food from the filling/removal opening, an edge recess open towards the filling/removal opening can be formed in the front part. This edge recess makes the food easier to grasp and consume.

The edge recess can be designed in a variety of ways. One example is a substantially triangular edge recess and also a diamond-shaped edge recess. For reasons of simplified production and also to improve the optical and aesthetic impression, however, in connection with the curved wall edges and the concavely curved side parts,

and the corresponding base part, it is considered advantageous if the edge recess is partially circular, in particular substantially semicircular.

If a food item, such as French fries or the like, is filled into the folding box, this food item can protrude from the filling/removal opening. In order to ensure that the food item is also supported to a certain extent above the opening, a support wall can protrude upwards from the rear part over the filling/removal opening.

The support wall can have different shapes depending on the edge recess. Triangular or diamond-shaped cross-sections are also conceivable here. With regard to the part-circular or in particular essentially semicircular edge recess, however, the support wall can be designed in a similar way to be part-circular and in particular essentially semicircular. In order to further simplify the manufacture of the folding box in this context, the support wall and edge recess can be designed to be complementary.

In order to improve the accessibility of the food stuffed into the folding box in conjunction with the attachment wall, an upper edge line of the back, sides and front can run from the direction of the attachment wall to the edge recess, slanting downwards towards the base. This makes it easy to remove the food stuff from the edge recess, while at the same time it is securely supported by the attachment wall and arranged inside the folding box.

The production of the folding box described above can be made particularly simpler and also less expensive if a corresponding blank for producing the folding box is made in one piece.

A simple example of a one-piece cut can be seen in the fact that the cut comprises a back part with first side part sections protruding laterally from it, a front part with second side part sections protruding laterally from it and a base part connecting the back part and the front part.

In this context, the corresponding side sections only need to be connected to each other in the appropriate manner to produce the folding box.

In order to provide the corresponding fold lines directly in the side part sections, the first or second side part sections can have fold lines running in the longitudinal direction of the side part.

In order to prevent folding lines being provided in both side part sections, which would have to be aligned when the two side part sections are put together, the folding line in only one corresponding side part section can form a line of contact for an edge of the other side part section of the corresponding side part. As a result, the folding line provided in only one side part section acts as a common folding line for the side part formed from both side part sections.

In order to be able to connect the corresponding side part sections in a simple manner, the first side part sections can, for example, have adhesive areas for gluing adhesive sections of the second side part section that protrude outwards from the fold line.

The above-mentioned convexly curved wall edges can be easily manufactured and formed by connecting the front part and/or rear part to the respective side part section and/or base part via fold lines that are concavely curved relative to these. With regard to the side parts, these fold lines are later convexly curved outwards when the folding box is unfolded and ensure the dimensional stability of the folding box.

The fold lines can be designed in different ways. An example of the production of such a fold line is a material weakening line or the like. It is also possible for a fold line to be designed, for example, in the base part essentially in the middle between the front part and the back part as a central fold line and in particular as a perforation line.

In order to easily form the support feet as part of the cut, the fold lines between the front and rear parts and the base part can have an interruption, with the ends of the fold lines adjacent to the respective interruption being connected to one another via a support foot cutting line running in the base part. The support foot cutting line surrounds the support foot and this is automatically swung out of its flat arrangement from the base part when the folding box is unfolded and then protrudes as an extension of the front or rear part.

In order to be able to attach the support feet centrally between the above-mentioned support edges, the interruption is arranged essentially centrally in the respective fold line.

In order to obtain a support foot with a simple outline and at the same time with a safe support foot end, the support foot cutting line can have a first cutting line running parallel to the central fold line in the base part and two connecting cuts connecting this to the interruption ends.

The folding box or its blank is made from coated paper or cardboard, for example. The coating can be applied to both the outside and the inside of the folding box. The folding box or its blank can also be printed on and colored in different ways. The coating of the blank can be used, for example, to prevent moisture from penetrating the paper/cardboard blank, to form an odor barrier, or the like.

In the following, an advantageous embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the figures attached to the drawing.

Fig. 1 shows a plan view of a blank 29 for producing a folding box 1 according to the invention, see the following figures. The blank 29 comprises a rear part 14 and a front part 13, which are connected to one another via a base part 15.

The rear part 14 has an approximately semicircular, upwardly projecting contact wall 27 at its upper end shown in Fig. 1. Furthermore, first side part sections 30 and 31 are arranged on the side of the rear part 14. These are connected to the rear part 14 via fold lines 34, 35 that are convexly curved in the direction of the latter. Each side part section 30, 31 ends in an edge 39 or 40 and has an adhesive area 41, 42. In these adhesive areas 41, 42, any film that may be arranged on the blank is not present.

The base part 15 is connected to the rear part 14 or the base part 15 via a wall edge 25 or 24. The wall edges 24, 25 also form fold lines along which the rear part 14 or the front part 13 can be folded upwards from the figure plane according to Fig. 1. The wall edges 24, 25 extend in an arc shape and also convexly curved into the rear part 14 or the front part 13. Each of the wall edges 24, 25 has an interruption 45, 46. The interruptions are limited by interruption ends 47, 48 of the respective wall edge 24, 25. Between these interrupted ends 47, 48 extends a support foot cutting line consisting of the first cutting line 50 and connecting cuts 51 connecting the latter to the interrupted ends 47, 48. The first cutting line 50 runs essentially parallel to a fold line 19 arranged centrally in the base part, which is formed by a perforation. The base part 15 ends laterally with connecting edges 20, 21, which extend between the front part 13 and the rear part 14.

The front part 13 is constructed essentially analogously to the rear part 14. It has second side part sections 32, 33, which are connected to the

The second side part sections 32, 33 each have fold lines 17, 18, which form contact lines 37, 38 for edges 39, 40 of the first side part sections 30, 31 when the blank 29 is assembled. Adhesive sections 43, 44 protrude radially outward from the contact lines 37, 38 relative to the front part 13, which are formed essentially complementary to the adhesive areas 41, 42 of the first side part sections 30, 31.

At its end opposite the base part 15, the front part 13 has an edge recess 26. This is also essentially semicircular and complementary to the contact wall 27.

To form the folding box in the following figures, the front part 13 and the back part 14 are pivoted upwards along the fold lines 36 and the adhesive sections 43, 44 are aligned with the adhesive areas 41, 42 and glued there with an appropriately applied adhesive. Before this, the first side part sections 30, 31 and the second side part sections 32, 33 are folded over in the direction of the other part along the fold lines 34, 35.

If the side parts 11, 12 made from the first side part sections 30, 31 and second side part sections 32, 33 (see Fig. 2) and the base part 15 are then folded outwards along the fold lines 17, 18, 19, the folding box 1 shown in Fig. 2 results in a flat and not yet unfolded arrangement.

In Fig. 2, the folding lines 34, 35 form corresponding wall edges 8, 9 of the side parts 11, 12. These form wall sections 7 of a box wall 2, see also Fig. 3. The corresponding side parts 11, 12 are folded in a flat arrangement, with the corresponding side part sections lying on top of one another according to Fig. 1. The associated folding lines 17, 18 of the side parts 11, 12 extend in the longitudinal direction 16 of the side parts 11, 12.

The base part 15 is also in a folded arrangement as the end wall 6 of the folding box 1, with one half of the base part 15 lying on top of the other and both being folded towards one another along the fold line 19.

The support feet 22, 23 defined by the support foot cutting lines 49 according to Fig. 1 are still arranged flush in the base part 15 or in the respective half of the base part 15.

In Fig. 3, the folding box 1 is shown in its unfolded position. This results from the arrangement of the folding box 1 according to Fig. 2 by pressing the side parts 11, 12 and the base part 15 in the direction of the folding box interior 10. By pressing the corresponding side parts 11, 12 and the base part 15 in this direction, the front part 13 and rear part 14 are braced relative to one another via the side parts 11, 12 and the base part 15 due to the convexly curved wall edges 8, 9 and 24, 25, respectively. The side parts 11, 12 and the base part 15 assume a concave arrangement curved towards the folding box interior 10. In this arrangement of the side parts and the base part, they extend essentially flat in the direction perpendicular to the wall edges 8, 9 and 24, 25. This means that the side parts and the base part are concavely curved in their respective longitudinal directions, but are arranged flat perpendicular to this longitudinal direction.

In the unfolded state of the folding box 1 in Fig. 3, the support feet 22, 23 protrude downwards over the base part 15 in an extension of the front part 13 or rear part 14. The support feet 22, 23 extend just far enough that, together with the connecting edges 20, 21, they enable the folding box 1 to be placed at four points on a base.

In the unfolded state according to Fig. 3, a filling/removal opening 4 is formed at the upper end 3 of the folding box 1, opposite which the end wall 6 or the base part 15 is located at the lower end 5. Between the contact wall 27 and the edge recess 26 there is an edge line 28 which runs diagonally downwards in the direction of the edge recess 26 and the base part 15 and which, together with the contact wall 27 and the edge recess 26, surrounds the filling/removal opening 4.

According to the invention, a folding box 1 is produced which can be easily produced from a one-piece blank 29 and which has a relatively high dimensional stability due to the special design of the side parts and/or the base part. At the same time, the folding box 1 can be easily and essentially with just one hand from the flat and folded

Position according to Fig. 2 into the unfolded position according to Fig. 3. The folding box 1 can be placed on a surface so that it does not have to be held by a user, at least temporarily.

Claims (30)

1. Folding box ( 1 ) with a circumferential box wall ( 2 ) which has a filling/removal opening ( 4) at one end (3 ) and an end wall ( 6 ) at its other end ( 5 ), characterized in that at least two opposite wall sections ( 7 ) of the box wall and the end wall ( 6 ) have at least one pair of opposite wall edges ( 8 , 9 ) which are convexly curved outwards relative to the wall section ( 7 ) or the end wall ( 6 ), and when the folding box ( 1 ) is unfolded, the wall section ( 7 ) and the end wall ( 6 ) are arranged in a curved position towards the interior of the folding box ( 1 ). 2. Folding box according to claim 1, characterized in that when the folding box ( 1 ) is unfolded, the wall section ( 7 ) and/or the end wall ( 6 ) are arranged in a curved position towards the folding box interior ( 1 ). 3. Folding box according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that at least one of the convexly curved wall edges ( 8 , 9 ) is concavely curved relative to the folding box interior ( 10 ). 4. Folding box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that opposite wall edges ( 8 , 9 ) of the wall section ( 7 ) and/or the end wall ( 6 ) have the same convex and/or concave curvature. 5. Folding box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the section ( 7 ) and/or the end wall ( 6 ) run essentially flat perpendicular to the concave and/or convex curved wall edges ( 8 , 9 ). 6. Folding box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the box wall ( 2 ) is composed of two side parts ( 11 , 12 ), a front part ( 13 ) and a rear part ( 14 ), of which the two side parts ( 11 , 12 ) are curved towards the folding box interior ( 10 ). 7. Folding box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the end wall ( 6 ) is designed as a base part ( 15 ). 8. Folding box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that side parts ( 11 , 12 ) and/or bottom part ( 15 ) each have a folding line ( 17 , 18 , 19 ) running in the longitudinal direction of the wall ( 16 ). 9. Folding box according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the folding line ( 17 , 18 , 19 ) is arranged centrally. 10. Blank according to one of the preceding claims 21 to 23, characterized in that the folding line ( 17 , 18 ) of the corresponding side part section ( 30 , 31 ) forms a contact line ( 37 , 38 ) for an edge ( 39 , 40 ) of the other side part section ( 32 , 33 ) of the corresponding side part ( 11 , 12 ). 25. Blank according to one of the preceding claims 21 to 26, characterized in that the folding line ( 19 ) in the base part ( 15 ) is formed substantially centrally between the front part ( 13 ) and the rear part ( 14 ) as a central folding line, in particular a perforation line. 28. Blank according to one of the preceding claims 21 to 27, characterized in that the folding lines between the front and/or rear part ( 13 , 14 ) and the base part ( 15 ) have an interruption ( 45 , 46 ), wherein interruption ends ( 47 , 48 ) of the folding lines ( 36 ) adjacent to the respective interruption ( 45 , 46 ) are connected to one another via a support foot cutting line ( 49 ) running in the base part ( 15 ). 29. Blank according to one of the preceding claims 21 to 28, characterized in that the interruption ( 45 , 46 ) is arranged substantially centrally in the respective folding line ( 36 ). 30.
