Zielfernrohre üblicher Bauart weisen in der Regel ein rein optisches Linsensystem auf. Die Zieleinrichtungen, Kimme und Korn, werden zu einer Einheit, dem Absehen, zusammengefasst. Das Absehen ist in der Regel als Zielstachel oder als Fadenkreuz, in unterschiedlichen Ausprägungen, aufgebaut. Eine Beleuchtung des Absehens ist generell möglich. Durch die optischen Einrichtungen werden Ziel und Absehen scheinbar auf eine Bildebene gebracht. Durch diesen Aufbau wird dem Schützen der Zielvorgang dahingehend erleichtert, dass sich das menschliche Auge auf nur eine Entfernung einstellen muss. Gleichzeitig können durch das eingesetzte Linsensystem Augenfehler korrigiert und Bildvergrößerungen realisiert werden. Gerade im Bereich der Jagd ist es sehr hilfreich, wenn der Schütze im Moment des Schusses das Abkommen ansagen kann. Dies bedeutet die genaue Position des Absehen auf dem Ziel im Moment der Schussabgabe sollte bekannt sein. Auch für Sportschützen ist es wichtig zu wissen auf welcher Position das Absehen im Moment des Schusses stand. Nur so können nachträgliche Korrekturen an der Einstellung des Zielfernrohrs vorgenommen werden, indem der Treffpunkt des Schusses mit dem Position des Absehens verglichen wird. Wichtig ist hierbei nur, dass die Kamera in ihrem Aufbau auf der Bildebene hinter dem Absehen liegt, damit das von der Kamera aufgenommene Bild genau dem Betrachter erscheinenden entspricht. Das Auslösen der Kamera im Moment der Schussabgabe kann entweder manuell, durch eine Verbindung mit dem Abzug der Schusswaffe, oder über elektronische Sensoren (Beschleunigung, Geräusch) erfolgen. Somit ist gewährleistet, dass genau im Moment des Schusses ein Bildaufnahme erfolgt. Zur nachträglichen Kontrolle kann nun das von der Kamera aufgenommene Bild mit dem tatsächlichen Schussergebnis verglichen werden.This problem is solved by the combination with a riflescope with an integrated camera, as specified in the protection claim.
