A string of lights for hanging or winding over an object for decorative purposes, comprising a plurality of rings ( 1 ) which are in engagement with one another, each ring ( 1 ) containing at least one lamp ( 2 ) connected to a conductive wire ( 3 ) connecting it to another lamp in an adjacent ring, such that each lamp ( 2 ) in the rings ( 1 ) is switched on when the string of lights is supplied with current from a power source.

2. Light chain according to claim 1, characterized in that the rings ( 1 ) are made of elastic plastic of different colors and are transparent, translucent or fluorescent.

3. Light chain according to claim 1, characterized in that each ring ( 1 ) contains a shell ( 11 ) and a side cap ( 12 ).

4. A string of lights according to claim 3, characterized in that the shell ( 11 ) has a space ( 111 ) containing a plurality of rods ( 112 ) therein, with a shell opening ( 113 ) at the front end and an inner edge ( 114 ) having a bore ( 115 ) for the passage of the wire ( 3 ).
