Table tennis blade

The invention relates to a table tennis blade consisting of a bat and a handle. The handle can be formed in the usual way from an extension of the bat and handles that are permanently attached to it. A table tennis blade must always meet the requirement that the bat and handle remain securely connected to one another. For this reason, it is already common practice to integrate the bat into the handle via an extension, so to speak, with individual handles that are permanently attached to both sides, which together form the handle. This creates a table tennis blade that is highly stable and reliable.

However, it cannot be overlooked that the handle and blade of well-known table tennis blades are rather rigidly connected to one another. This means that the vibrations of the blade are transferred to the player's hand via the handle during play. This can impair a player's "feel for the ball". This can impair a player's safety and ability to react, particularly at high stroke frequencies.

This is where the invention comes in. It aims to develop a table tennis blade in such a way that the aforementioned disruptive influences are reduced.

According to a first proposal of the invention, this object can be achieved in that the handle has a central bore following its longitudinal axis, which extends from the rear of the handle to the front handle area, that a tube of smaller diameter is inserted concentrically in this bore as a core and anchored in the front handle area and that the annular gap formed between the bore and the tube is closed at the rear of the handle with an elastic ring seal.

As can be seen, the familiar unit of the striking blade, its extension and the attached handles will remain, but this will be limited to the front handle area, while in the rest of the handle area the cohesion will be interrupted in places by the central hole in the direction of the longitudinal axis, which will result in less rigidity or easier mobility. The mobility is specifically dampened by the elastic material via the tube coming from the striking blade or front handle area.

A further solution consists in the handle being divided into a front part with handle attachments on both sides of the striking face and a rear part with the rest of the handle, in that a tube is anchored in the front part of the handle in the direction of the handle's longitudinal axis, in that the rear part of the handle has a longitudinal bore of a larger diameter than the tube, in that the annular gap formed between the tube and the longitudinal bore of the rear handle part is closed at the beginning and end of the rear handle part by an elastic ring seal and in that a separating layer made of compressible and twistable material is provided at the transition from the front to the rear handle part. It is advantageous if the tube is made of a bend-resistant material such as aluminum, titanium, carbon fiber or carbon fiber fabric or similar.

The proposed ring seal can be used not only for damping, but also for holding the table tennis blade together, either by pressing the ring seal firmly into the ring gap or by gluing it into place. A ring seal can meet these different requirements in particular if it is made of multiple layers and different materials. The main materials to be considered are rubber and/or plastic. Other materials can also be chosen for the separating layer, such as leather, synthetic leather or cork.

In the more advanced solution, in which any rigid connection between the front and the rest (rear) handle part is removed, it no longer matters whether the rest of the handle part still contains part of an original extension of the striking face or not. Rather, that handle part with the specified geometry can be designed as a single piece from the outset, i.e. it can also be made from a solid material.

Further details and advantages of the invention are described below using two preferred embodiments in conjunction with the drawing. In these:

According to Fig. 1 to 4, a table tennis bat 1 consists of a bat 2 and a handle 3. The latter is divided into a front handle part 3a and a rear or remaining handle part 3b. The front handle part 3a is still formed in a conventional manner, namely from an extension 4 of the bat 2, to which handle shells are permanently attached on both sides, which are only to be referred to here as handle attachments 5. The remaining handle part 3b also corresponds in its contour to a conventional handle, but it no longer needs to be formed in multiple layers (from an extension of the bat and handle shells attached to it), unless this is desired for optical or aesthetic reasons, so that the front handle part 3a and rear handle part 3b continue to appear as a unit. Functionally, however, it is no longer a conventional table tennis bat.

As can be seen from the figures, in the area of the front handle part 3a, in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the handle 3, a tube 6 made of aluminum is firmly anchored, which extends to the back (to the end) of the rear handle part 3b through a central hole (longitudinal hole) 7 of larger diameter than the tube 6. The annular gap 8 formed between them is closed at the beginning and end of the rear handle part 3b by means of an elastic ring seal 9 made of rubber, which also contributes to the cohesion between the front handle part 3a and the rear handle part 3b.

In addition, a separating layer 10 made of foamed plastic is arranged at the transition from the front handle part 3a to the rear handle part 3b.

The described table tennis blade 1 provides a comfortable table tennis bat, which lies quietly and securely in the hand of a player even at high hitting frequencies. Thanks to the structure of the handle 3 and the connection of both handle parts 3a, 3b to one another, the blows are noticeably dampened. This can involve a variety of stresses on the blade in relation to the handle, be it bending, torsion or both at the same time.

A simplified embodiment is shown in Fig. 5. The handle 3' is still made in one piece, but a longitudinal bore 7 runs through it from the end of the rear handle area 3b' to its beginning. Inside the bore 7 there is a (smaller) tube 6 which is firmly anchored in the front handle area 3a'. At the end of the rear handle area 3b' the annular gap 8 is closed by means of an annular seal 9. The latter serves to dampen the sound and can vary in its structure and material, i.e. can be adapted to specific playing characteristics.

Table tennis bat, consisting of a bat and a handle, the handle being formed, if necessary, from a stem-shaped extension of the bat and handle shells permanently attached to it, characterized in that the handle ( 3 ') has a central bore ( 7 ) following its longitudinal axis, which extends from the back of the handle ( 3 ') to the front handle area ( 3a '), that a tube ( 6 ) of smaller diameter is inserted concentrically in that bore ( 7 ) as a core and anchored in the front handle area ( 3a '), and that the annular gap ( 8 ) formed between the bore ( 7 ) and the tube ( 6 ) is closed on the back of the handle with ( 3 ') an elastic ring seal ( 9 ). 2.
