Abstract

Recycling used toner cartridges from PC- printers or photocopiers comprises first introducing the empty cartridges contg. residual toner dust into a container contg. methyl salicylate and/or camphene (C10 monoterpene), terpene alcohols and terpene aldehydes as solvent to dissolve the toner dust, then after 0.25 hrs. removing the cartridges from the solvent and comminuting them.

Description

The invention relates to a method for recycling Toner cartridges and dissolution of the toner dust by means of of a solvent. The object of the invention is to achieve this to recycle a product that is still considered hazardous waste applies and can only be disposed of by incineration. The toner cartridge with its fine remnants of toner dust are made up of the solvent consisting of methyl salicylate and / or camphene (monoterpenes (C10), terpene alcohols and Terpene aldehydes dissolved and the toner cartridge can now be used without Risk of explosion being mechanically crushed. This means that plastics are returned to the recycling cycle and the environment is protected.

Claims (1)

A process for recycling toner cartridges and dissolving the toner dust using a solvent, characterized in that the toner cartridge, which after use in a PC printer or in a photocopier, is still filled with remnants of toner dust and can only be recycled by the solvent. The solvent causes the fine toner dust to be dissolved in the toner cartridge without first disassembling the toner cartridge. The toner cartridge is placed in a container filled with the solvent consisting of methyl salicylate and / or camphene (monoterpenes (C10), terpene alcohols and terpene aldehydes.) After a quarter of an hour the toner dust is dissolved, the toner cartridge is removed from the container and can now be mechanically shredded without the toner cartridge exploding, this solvent is used to recover raw materials and to recycle a product that until now has been classified as hazardous waste.
