Die Hülse α ist in ihrem Haupttheile cylindrisch, aus Metall geprefst, mit einem glatten Boden ohne Wulst versehen. In die Mitte des Bodens ist eine Vertiefung eingedrückt, die eine der bekannten Centralzündungen aufnimmt. Ein Entweichen von Gasen nach dieser Seite ist demnach ausgeschlossen. Um eine gleiche Wirkung auch an dem Vorderende in dem Augenblicke des Abfeuerns zu erreichen und die Kammerwalze oder das Verschlufsstück gasdicht mit dem Laufe zu verbinden, wird über das Vorderende der Hülse α eine besondere Kappe b geschoben, die, wie Fig. 1 und 2 zeigen,, einen nach einwärts und rückwärts gebogenen Rand c hat, so dafs die Kugel d oder die Schrotladung fest in diesen umgekrempten Rand pafst. Die ganze Patrone ist natürlich so lang,, dafs Kappe b und Kugel d die Bewegung des Verschlufsstückes oder der Kammerwalze nicht hindern. Bei der Explosion legt sich diese Kappe b, durch den von inner* wirkenden Druck der Pulvergase ausgedehnt, gasdicht an das hintere Ende des Laufes an und bildet einen gasdichten Verschlufs.The main part of the sleeve α is cylindrical, pressed from metal, with a smooth base without a bulge.
