Man verwendet eine besonders aufgestellte Nebenschlußmaschine, die man unmittelbar auf die elektrolytische Kette wirken läßt. Die Spannung beträgt zweckmäßig 10 bis 15 V., die Stromdichte 0,3 bis 0,4 Amp. pro qcm. Der durch das Fräsen entstandene Eisenmantel wird elektrolytisch aufgelöst, bis die Isolation hervortritt. Bei der erwähnten Stromdichte dauert das Verfahren im allgemeinen 7 bis 10 Min. Die bearbeitete Stelle wird behufs Verhinderung einer Oxydation mit einer Lösung von Zinkchlorid abgerieben, dann wird die Lösung abgewischt und die Stelle mit Asphaltlack bestrichen. In einzelnen Nuten sind dünne Bleistreifen behufs besseren Kontaktes einzelner Bleche einzukeilen.
