Besonders geeignet hierfür ist ein feinverteiltes Siliciumdioxyd, das durch Umsetzung einer flüchtigen Siliciumverbindung mit einem oxydierenden und/oder hydrolisierenden Gas oder Gasgemisch in der Gasphase bei erhöhter Temperatur gewonnen wurde. Ein derartiges Siliciumdioxyd ist unter dem warenzeichenrechtlich geschützten Namen »Aerosil« bekannt. Mit ähnlich gutem Erfolg lassen sich feinverteiltes, in der Gasphase gewonnenes Titandioxyd oder Aluminiumoxyd verwenden, ebenso Aluminiumsilicat oder Calciumsilicat, die durch Ausfällen aus Lösungen löslicher Alkalisilicate erhalten wurden.
