Abstract

Un proceso para la conversión de óxido de hierro a carburo dehierro, que comprende los pasos de: proporcionar un reactor de lecho fluidizado que tiene una zona de metalización y una zona de carburación;alimentar óxido de hierro al dicho reactor;alimentar un gas de reducción al dicho reactor en forma tal de proporcionar hierro reducido en la dicha zona de metalización; y alimentar un gas de carburación a la dicha zona de carburación en forma tal de proporcionar un producto final de carburo de hierro en dicha zona de carburación que tiene entre 2,2% en peso y 6,5% en peso y por lo menos 80% en peso y 85% en peso, preferiblemente 84% en peso de hierro. Un proceso de acuerdo con la reivindicación 1, donde dicho gas de reducción tiene una composición en base seca, en volumen, de entre 58% y 66% de hidrógeno, entre 5% y 9% de dióxido de carbono, entre 1% y 4% de dióxido de carbono, y entre 24% y 33% de metano, siendo el balance nitrógeno.1Un proceso de acuerdo con la reivindicación 1, donde dicho reactor opera a una presión de entre 10 y 20 X 105 Pa.
