Abstract
Se describe un proceso eficiente para la preparación de tiosulfato de potasio (K2S2O3). El hidróxido de potasio (KOH) y el azufre elemental (S) se convierten en polisulfuro de potasio, que se oxida posteriormente. El proceso permite el uso de condiciones de proceso específicamente diseñadas tales como relaciones molares de hidróxido de potasio a azufre, y temperatura, para obtener una formulación optimizada del polisulfuro deseado, y un conjunto específicamente diseñado de condiciones tales como la temperatura, la presión, el índice y la duración del oxidante durante las condiciones de oxidación, a fin de obtener una concentración relativamente alta de producto de tiosulfato de potasio soluble con alta pureza, con cantidades relativamente bajas de subproductos. El proceso de elaboración puede ser un proceso en lotes o un proceso continuo que utiliza reactores de tanque agitado continuo (CSTR). El proceso CSTR depende de varios parámetros de diseño, que incluyen la presión y la optimización de la temperatura para evitar la inestabilidad del producto. El tiosulfato de potasio resultante es un fertilizante beneficioso con alto contenido de potasio como una fuente líquida al 50% de potasio.
