Abstract
Un método para el tratamiento del desecho comprendiendo uno o más componentes orgánicos peligrosos, que comprende el tratamiento por plasma de un desecho en una unidad de tratamiento por plasma para la destrucción de los componentes orgánicos peligrosos; donde el desecho comprende: i. Un suelo y/o material de agregado; y ii. Un componente de aceite; y el tratamiento por plasma del desecho en una unidad de tratamiento por plasma es llevado a cabo a una temperatura de al menos 1.100°C, donde, antes del tratamiento por plasma del desecho, el desecho comprende uno o más componentes orgánicos peligrosos seleccionados entre los contaminantes orgánicos persistentes (POPs), las sustancias que agotan la capa de ozono (ODSs) y los contaminantes tóxicos, bioacumulativos y persistentes (PBT), y las combinaciones de dos o más de ellos, y desde 10% hasta 40% de agua en peso del desecho, en donde el tratamiento por plasma es llevado a cabo en la presencia de un oxidante, en adición al agua presente en el desecho, en que el oxidante comprende gas de oxígeno, donde la unidad de tratamiento por plasma comprende: una cámara de reacción que tiene una porción base para mantener el desecho; un primer electrodo dispuesto por encima del desecho; un segundo electrodo en contacto eléctrico con la porción base, de manera que, en uso, un arco de plasma generado entre el primer y el segundo electrodos pasa a través del desecho, donde el primer electrodo no entra en contacto con el material de desecho.
