Description

Grinding machine Grinding machines are known having a rocking wheel holder which allow, for example, the grinding of one of the faces of rings the hole of which has previously been ground on the same machine.

There are also grinding machines whose grinding wheel headstock is mounted on axial bearings allowing a reciprocating movement but not a radial movement.

The grinding machine forming the subject of the present invention is characterized by at least one grinding wheel holder mounted on a rocker pivoting on bearings which simultaneously allow axial and radial movements.

The drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the grinding machine according to the invention.

Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of the rocker. Fig. 2 is a cross section perpendicular to the axis of oscillation of the rocker.

Fig. 3 is a section perpendicular to the axis of one of the bearings.

Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section thereof.

Fig. 5 is a cross section of a third support bearing of the rocker, while FIG. 6 is a longitudinal section.

In fig. 1, the rocker 1, which carries the internal grinding wheel 2, pivots on the two radial-axial bearings 3 and 4. These bearings are placed on the axes 5 and 6 fixed in the bores 7 and 8 of the frame 21 of the machine. These bearings constitute two support points of the rocker, the third support is constituted by the axial bearing 9 of FIG. 2. This bearing, the detail of which is shown in fig. 5 and 6, adjust the sinking of grinding wheel 2 by the action of screw 10.

In the right section of fig. 3, part of the lever 1 can be seen, in a bore of which the hardened half-ring 11 is held against which the balls 12 bear. The half-ring 11 is held against the bore of the rocker 1 by the plates 13, themselves fixed against said rocker by the screws 14. The weight of the rocker 1 is sufficient to strongly press the bearing against the shaft. 15 which is fixed. The bearing of the second press is similar.

In the longitudinal section of FIG. 4, we find part 1 of the lever, the half-sleeve 11, as well as the balls 12 and the ball cage 16. Any axial movement of the lever 1 causes the balls to roll on the shaft 15, while the movements Inner wheel sinking and recoil radials rotate the balls around the same axis.

The longitudinal roller bearing of fig. 5 and 6 supports a significant part of the weight of the rocker 1. This bearing which regulates the sinking of the inner grinding wheel is mounted on the ball joint 20 which rests on the frame 21 of the machine.

The main advantage of this rocker resides in the fact that it is lighter than a slide, that it operates without play and allows much faster back and forth movements of the grinding wheel.

A grinding wheel 22, of large diameter, mounted on a transverse slide, not shown, could simultaneously perform the grinding of the grooves: the same rings, in the case of inner rings of bearings.
