Description

Glasschmelzofen.

Glass melting furnace. In addition to the glass melting furnaces heated with generator gas, electrically heated furnaces have also found their way into the glass industry in recent years.

In these electrically heated furnaces, the heat is generated in the glass melt itself, which in addition to significant advantages also has certain disadvantages. In particular, the shaping work of the glass or glass would be difficult because of insufficient heat in the air space above the glass level.

Furthermore can. It can happen that the electrical power required by such furnaces is not readily available in full throughout the year.

In order to avoid the aforementioned disadvantages of the glass melting furnace equipped exclusively with an electric heating system, according to the invention the furnace is provided with both an electric heater and a gas heater, both of which serve to heat the furnace at the same time.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, namely a glass melting furnace is shown schematically in plan in the figure. The furnace consists essentially of a melting chamber 1 and a removal chamber 2, the glass melt generated in the chamber 1 flowing through an opening 3 to the second chamber 2,

where they for the purpose of the desired shape via the openings 4, the. Oven: can be removed. For the electrical heating of the furnace. A number of electrodes 5 built into the side walls, the melting chamber 1 below the glass mirror is provided. In addition, two burners 6, for example, are still built on the front wall of the melting chamber 1, which are used to heat the furnace with means of generator gas.

The heat gases exiting from the burner 6 are passed through a number of openings 7 located above the glass level in the partition between the chambers 1 and 9 to the glass removal chamber 2 after the melt has been smeared in the chamber 1, whereby the air in this is conducted. the latter as well as .dem glass mirror is heated to the desired value.

The facilities for gas heating as well as for electrical heating are most advantageously dimensioned so that the part of the gas. and the electricity to the furnace heating can be changed within wide limits, under certain circumstances even up to the sole heating with one or the other energy source. In this way, the gas heater not only serves the purpose of improving the shaping work, but can also take over the entire heating of the furnace in an emergency.
