Abstract

A highly versatile label (1), which comprises a label body (2) which is provided as a double layer, and is adapted to define at least one region (3) which is removable from the label body (2) and is adapted to define a drinking glass.

Description

HIGHLY VERSATILE LABEL, PARTICULARLY FOR BOTTLES OF
BEVERAGES AND THE LIKE
The present invention relates to a highly versatile label, particularly for bottles of beverages and the like. More specifically, the invention relates to a label which is adapted to be applied to bottles containing beverages and to perform the twofold function, once applied, to the bottle said.
As is known, bottles for beverages are widely available on the market and usually they are sold in the 1.5 liter format, or even in a 2 liter format.
If the bottle is bought by a group of people, who all wish to drink from that bottle, a problem of hygiene arises, in that the bottle has to be passed from person to person, who usually drink by directly applying the lips to the mouth of the neck of the bottle, and this can lead to the transmission of diseases, and in any case it is unpleasant for the various users to drink from the bottle from which another person has already drunk.
Also, drinking glasses are not always available in order to pour the contents of the bottle into them, so that each person can drink from their own drinking glass.
It is also known that bottles are sold with labels which are wrapped circumferentially around the body of the bottle and on which are printed the logos of the maker, the name of the beverage and the like.
Such labels are usually made of plastic and are wrapped around the bottle so that the two mutually opposite flaps of the label are slightly superimposed in order to be heat-sealed to each other.
The aim of the present invention is to provide a highly versatile label, which can be used both as a normal label for a bottle containing a beverage, and can allow a plurality of persons to consume the contents of the bottle without the bottle needing to pass from person to person in order to drink the contents thereof Within this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a highly versatile label which can be easily removed from the bottle.
2 Another object of the present invention is to provide a highly versatile label which adapts to bottles of different formats.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a highly versatile label which is highly reliable, easily and practically implemented and low cost.
This aim and these and other objects which will become better apparent hereinafter are all achieved by a highly versatile label, characterized in that it comprises a label body which is provided as a double layer, and is adapted to define at least one region which is removable from said label and is adapted to define a drinking glass.
Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become better apparent from the description of a preferred, but not exclusive, embodiment of the label according to the present invention, which is illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings wherein:
Figure 1 is a plan view of the label according to the present invention;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the label according to the present invention;
Figure 3 is a side view of the label according to the present invention;
Figure 4 shows the label according to the invention applied to a bottle;
Figure 5 shows a first step of using the label according to the invention applied to the bottle;
Figure 6 shows a second step of using the label according to the invention;
Figure 7 shows a final step of using the label according to the invention.
With reference to the figures, the label according to the invention, which is generally designated by the reference numeral 1, comprises a label body 2 which is provided at least partially in a double layer, so as to define
3 at least one region 3 of the label body 2 which can be removed from the label by way of tearing, by virtue of the presence of fracture lines 4, and is adapted to be converted, once removed from the surrounding part of the label, to a drinking glass for containing the beverage present in the bottle to which the label is applied.
In the figures, the bottle is generally designated by the reference numeral 5.
Conveniently, the label body 2 has at least one region 3, which constitutes a form of pocket and is adapted to define a drinking glass, and more preferably a plurality of regions 3 arranged mutually side by side, all separated from each other by way of fracture lines 4, with each region 3 being adapted to define a drinking glass for the contents of the bottle.
The side view in Figure 3 shows the double layer of the label body 2 which is adapted to define the drinking glass. The double layer label 1 is folded inward in a lower region with a fold 6 which makes it possible to define, when the region 3 of the label body 2 is manually expanded, the bottom surface 6 of the drinking glass which makes it possible for the drinking glass to be rested on a flat surface.
Conveniently, the fracture lines 4, which define the different regions 3, which in turn define a corresponding number of drinking glasses which can be obtained from the label body 2 according to the invention, are lines which are conveniently parallel to each other and substantially at right angles to the upper and lower edges of the label, while the region 3 is defined by two heat-sealing lines 7 and 8, respectively on each side of the region 3 and adapted so as to define the body of the drinking glass.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the label according to the invention, in which the label is removed from the bottle, but the various drinking glasses defined by the regions 3 have not yet been separated from each other, and thus both the fracture lines 4 and the heat-sealing lines 7 and 8 which define the lateral edges of each drinking glass are shown.
4 The lateral edges 7, 8 of the drinking glass being internal with respect to the fracture lines 4.
The label body 2 further comprises, at its two mutually opposite ends, a first region 9 and a second region 10 which are adapted to make it possible to wrap the label about itself once this is applied to the bottle 5.
In substance, the two regions or portions 9 and 10 of the label body 2 are adapted to be overlapped on each other when the label body 2 is wrapped around the bottle 5.
Naturally the number of regions 3 that can be defined on the label body 2 according to the invention is any, being limited solely by the width dimensions of the drinking glasses that it is desired to obtain and naturally by the circumferential dimension of the bottle to which the label is to be applied.
Figures 4 to 7 show a further use of the label according to the invention.
The label, which was first applied to the bottle 5, is then removed from the bottle, Figure 5, and, Figure 6, the label, once removed, is separated into the separate drinking glasses defined by the regions 3. At this point, each drinking glass is expanded with the fingers so as to open out the fold directed toward the inside which defines the bottom 6 of the drinking glass, as illustrated in Figure 3. At this point, the individual drinking glasses can be used normally.
In practice it has been found that the label according to the invention fully achieves the set aim and objects, in that it makes it possible to define at least one, and preferably a plurality of drinking glasses, starting from a double layer label, so that the users who acquire a bottle of a beverage can drink its contents in total hygiene, each one thereof being able to use their own drinking glass.
The label, thus conceived, is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims.

Moreover, all the details may be substituted by other, technically equivalent elements.
In practice the materials employed, and the contingent dimensions and shapes, may be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.
5 Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly, such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the interpretation of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
