Abstract

he invention concerns a tunneling machine for boring a tunnel, with a shield that. can be driven into the soil/rock and in which disc roller cutter or ripper etc., is arranged.

Description

Description of the Invention This type of tunneling machine are known and feature as a telescope tunnel boring machine, with double cutting wheels and double drive systems, where the ripped soil proceeds through the spaces in the smaller boring machine into the major tunneling machine and is then removed. Owing to the low speed which occur around the centre area of the cutting wheel, reasonable structure design should be made to solve this problem. Therefore, a special drilling device is added in the centre of cutting wheel instead of regular fishplate(or centre disc-cutter set) which is fixed in the centre of cutting hub. This special drill device is a smaller tunnel boring machine which can move along the centre of the tunneling machine, and at same time can rotate at different speed.
As to the present tunnel boring machines, soil or rock ripped in the centre of the cutting wheel needs to be moved in the radial direction of the cutting wheel. Besides, since in the centre area of the cutting wheel, the velocity of the ripping tools is lower than the velocity of the tools revolving on a larger radius, a dead Core often results in the axis area of the cutting wheel, and soil displacement takes place there; Thus it is not an active soil removal. The formation of a soil/rock plug thus increases the forward resistance of the tunneling machine especially cohesive soil. For the same reason, when tunneling machine work in the hard ground condition, cutter is easy to be worn, and it will increase the resistant because the dead core problem.
Many method have been done to solve problem, but so far no practical design have been made to improve the escape of the soil in the dead core of the cutting wheel and at same time to reduce cutting resistance especially for working on the hard ground condition tunnel.
The problem underlying the invention is to provide a tunneling machine which is characterized by a telescope tunnel boring machine.
This invention provides a tunneling machine including a centre drilling device located in the hub area of the cutting wheel which is rotatable relative to the cutting wheel(also can move backwards and forwards along the axis of tunnel boring machine) and features as a micro tunnel boring machine.
The centre drilling device makes it possible to work in the dead core area independently, For that purpose, the centre drilling device has a drive mechanism with both directions of rotation, which is separate from the main drive system. To be able to remove the soil in the dead core quickly and reduce cutting resistant, firstly this center drilling device will be pushed forward, and in the same time it can rotate at adjustable speed.
While the centre drilling device moves forwards or backwards, the cutting wheel can be ripping the soil/rock in the same time.
All the disc cutter in the cutting wheel can be changed with cutting rippers when a softer ground condition applies. And the head of the center drilling device can changed with a cutting fishplate by moving backwards the centre drilling device and cutting tool also can be changed individually.
BRIEF DESCRIPRION OF THE DRAWINGS
The invention will be more fully described hereafter with the aid of the drawing, which shows in:
FIG .1 the front shield area of the tunneling machine according to the invention, as a section with a cut-away partial view of the center cutter;
FIG2 a center drilling device view corresponding to FIG 1, when the centre drilling device is extended, and scaled up somewhat as compared to FIG. 1;
FIG .3 a center drilling device front view corresponding to FIG .1 and FIG2., scaled up somewhat as compared to FIG2.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
FIG .1 depicts in longitudinal section a shield I provided in the front part of a tunnel boring machine. The shield 1 possesses a cylindrical shield shell 2 which on its front end shown in fig. I. With FIG 1 broken away toward the right, neither the tail of the section nor the remaining parts of the tunneling machine are fully shown in FIG 1.
A center pipe 4 show in axial direction as compared to the shield shell 2 extends coaxially to the shield shell 2. On its right-hand end in FIG. 1, the center pipe 4 is welded with a thrust wall 2 and , on its left-hand end in FIG. 1, welded with a plunge wall 3. Both the thrust wall 2 and the plunge wall 3 are ring-shaped, with the outside diameter of the ring corresponding to the inside diameter of the shield shell, the inside of the rings are welded with a centre pipe 4, which is precisely machined to connected with motor plate 5 and a rotary cover 8 where inner seals 6 and the outer seal 7 are located.
The plunge wall 3 is provided with a plunge wall opening 9 shown in FIG 1, bottom.
A cutting wheel 10 illustrated in FIG I is arranged.
The cutting wheel 10 has many cutting disc cutting rollers 11. which remove the soil or rock in the area of the front face advancing the tunneling machine to move forward; the soil or powder of rock cut by the tunneling machine, mixed with water, proceeding into the chamber 12.

The chamber 12 is disconnected from the right side of tunneling machine by the plunge wall 3 and the rotary cover 8, and centre drilling device 16; But only via the plunge wall opening 9, the water-mixed soil (rock powder) in chamber 12 can be transfer to screw conveyor 13, and then sent to outside somehow. Sometime earth pressure balance control I

may be used during this process.
The cutting wheel 10 possesses in the area of its hub a cylindrical opening 14 for accommodating a center drilling device 16, fashioned for instance similar to a micro telescope tunneling machine, with a central cutting wheel 15.

The cutting wheel 10 , on its backside away from the disc cutting rollers 11, is provided with a mounting flange 17 which is joined to a rotary cover 8. To that end there are several hydraulic or electric motors 19 provided, which by way of reduction gears accommodated in reduction gear box 18 are connected with drive pinions 20, of which one is illustrated in FIG 1.
The drive pinions 20 are installed in the motor plate 5 which belongs to the main gearbox housing 21 of the tunneling machine and connected, via a pinion shaft 65,with the reduction gear of the drive motor 21. The main gearbox housing 21 has a slewing bearing 22, of which stationary section is connected with the motor plate 5 ;
while the rotary section of slewing bearing 22 is connected with the rotary cover 8, and also can be driven by several pinions 20. Shown in FIG 1, two lip seals 23 seat between the rotary cover 8 and the stationary section of slewing bearing; while another two lip seals 24 are located between rotary section of slewing bearing 22 and seal holder ring 25 which is fixed on the motor plate 5 by bolts. Lubrication systems are need be added to all the rotary movement which are not illustrated.
To prevent material from the extraction chamber 12 from proceeding into the slewing bearing 22, the rotary cover 8 is surrounded by a seal 26 .
Not illustrated in the drawing, water lines and lubrication line also are needed in this machine.

To reduce cutting resistance and avoid a dead core formation in the centre area of the cutting head 10, the previously mentioned central drilling device 16 is provided shown in FIG 1, which FIG2 depicts as a cut-away partial view of the centre drilling device 16.
The central cutting wheel 15 of the centre drilling device 16 is provided with a opening 28 depicted in FIG3, the inlet opening allow soil/powder of rock extend in radial direction up to small chamber 29 and transfer to the chamber 12 by rotating screw 30or pulling back centre drill head 15.

This centre drilling device located in the centre of the major cutting wheel 10 shown in FIG 1. , hydraulic power come from a rotary joint 14 shown in FIG 1., of which hub is connected with motor plate 5 and rotary shaft is connected with end cover 32, where 2 flange-type of hydraulic cylinders 33 are also connected with. Cylinder rod end is connected with drive unit 34 through a spherical bearing.
As can be seen from FIG 2 the drive unit 34 comprises motor 35,a reducer 36 , and taper roller bearing 37 in drive unit 34.
The drive unit34 can move along axis of center and always sits inside the hub 38, and at the same time turn the shaft 39. the key 40 and the keyway 41 are separately located in the drive unit 34 and the hub 38.While seals 42 is set between the hub 38and the drive unit34.
End cover 43 and the hub 38 are connected with ring 44 which together connected to rotary cover 8.
When disc roller cutter need to be changed, cylinder 33 will be retract so as more space will be available to proceed the job.
Besides, all the disc roller cutter 11 can be replaced by ripper, and the cutting wheel 15 also can be replaced by a fishplate for soft ground condition which is not illustrated.
