Abstract
A kind of non-toxic environment-friendly degradable and disposable dishware mainly made from corn straws; it's characterized with the main ingredients from: corn straws, corn starch, melamine, zinc powder and sticky rice starch. All the raw materials are processed through smashing, stirring, forming by hot pressing, polishing and trimming, and finally made to degradable and disposable plates, forks, spoons, cups, bowls or other dishware.
Description
Description 1. This invention involves a working method for a kind of non-toxic environment-friendly degradable and disposable dishware mainly made from corn straws.
2. Currently the widely used disposable dishware in the market is made from EPS, which has been a serious source of environment pollution. This kind of disposable dishware is made from Polystyrene, a kind of macromolecule chemical, which is not degrading after tens of years when placed in the air or buried in the soil. It will release toxic chemicals and pollute the soil and water sources in a long term. It will cost a huge fund to deal with this "white pollution"
and bring a heavy burden to the city management. Considering these factors, we conclude it a pressing need to substitute the current disposable dishware with a kind of non-toxic environment-friendly degradable and disposable dishware.
and bring a heavy burden to the city management. Considering these factors, we conclude it a pressing need to substitute the current disposable dishware with a kind of non-toxic environment-friendly degradable and disposable dishware.
3. Canada produces millions of tons of corns every year. Along with the agricultural output, massive corn straws are produced. The current situation is only small quantity of the corn straws are utilized, while most are discarded as waste.
4. This invention is a working method designed to utilize the massive corn straws produced from agriculture planting and to relieve the "white pollution" caused by the current disposable dishware.
5. This disposable dishware is made from the following ingredients with appropriate proportions:
(1) Corn straws: 60 -65%
(2) Corn starch: 10-15%
(3) Melamine: 10%
(4) Zinc powder: 1-2%
(5) Sticky rice starch: 10-15%

(3) Melamine: 10%
(4) Zinc powder: 1-2%
(5) Sticky rice starch: 10-15%
(6) Other starch.
6. Corn straws take a biggest part of the ingredients. Melamine is put into the material to get more endurable dishware; zinc power is to make the dishware shiny. The most creative component is the sticky rice starch, which can get a better adhesion in forming. The sticky rice starch is processed by special treatment: the sticky rice is cooked and mashed, then added into the material.

7. During the production, the corn straws are cut into small parts at length of 5-8 mm, then washed to clear the dirt, thirdly, dried up, and finally being smashed to small fibre pieces at diameter of 0.5-1 mm.
8. The small fibre pieces are mixed with other ingredients and stirred completely;
then poured into different moulds for hot forming. The heating temperature is between 130-150 Celsius degree, for a time of 5-8 seconds, at a pressure of 3-kg/sq centimetre.

9. After the cool off, the formed disposable dishware will be trimmed and polished, then being disinfected and sealed into separate bags.
10. The materials for this disposable dishware are coming from extensive sources, low costing, light in weight, non-toxic and environment-friendly. It can turn to fertilizers in a short term if buried under the ground. The disposed dishware can be cut to small pieces and become the feeding stuff for livestock or poultry.
So the disposable dishware can be applied in extensive fields and have a good value.
