Water pipe 10 described above is shown in exploded views in FIG. 1 and 2 with a cigarette conversion member 50 and a pipe conversion member 70, which allow water pipe to be adapted for different uses. These uses will now be described.
Referring to FIG. 7, a cigarette conversion member 50 may be positioned across opening 22 of tobacco bowl 20 such that water pipe 10 may be used as a cigarette holder.
Cigarette conversion member 50 has a body 52 having a first face 54, a second face 56, and an aperture 58 extending through body 52 between first face 54 and second face 56. Aperture 10 58 is adapted to hold a cigarette 60, thereby facilitating use of body 12 to smoke cigarettes 60.
While not shown, a straw may be inserted into first lower port 34 for the user to apply a vacuum to cigarette 60. Otherwise, it is necessary to ensure that when a vacuum is applied to first lower port 34, that air does not flow through smoke outlet passage 40 at the same time.
As shown, cigarette conversion member 50 has a male coupling 62 adapted for insertion in opening 22 of tobacco bowl 20, with opening 22 of tobacco bowl 20 serving as a mating female coupling 64. Cigarette conversion member 50 may also have a female coupling 66 at first face 54.
Referring to FIG. 8, a pipe conversion member 70 may be attached to body 12 of water pipe 10 to provide direct communication between smoke inlet passage 32 and smoke outlet passage 40 without using container 28 as described above with respect to FIG. 6. Pipe conversion member 70 has a female coupling 72 that overlies insertion end 30 of plug 24 with insertion end 30 of plug 24 serving as a mating male connection 74. Direct communication between smoke inlet passage 32 and smoke outlet passage 40 is allowed by an enlarged cavity 76 in female coupling 72. Alternatively, referring to FIG. 9, lower portion 16 of body 12 may be detachable from upper portion 18. As shown, the size of diffusion chamber 36 may be altered, as it is shown larger in FIG. 9 than in those above.
Referring to FIG. 3, a removable stopper 80 is provided which may be inserted into opening 22 of tobacco bowl 20 to prevent tobacco 48 from spilling from tobacco bowl 20 when body 12 is carried in a person's pocket or purse.
