Abstract
La présente invention concerne un procédé de retraitement d'un gaz contenant de l'ozone, existant dans une installation de blanchiment de pâte à papier. Ce procédé consiste à introduire le gaz dans un épurateur, et à réduire sa teneur en ozone alors qu'il traverse l'épurateur. L'opération de réduction comprend l'envoi d'un milieu alcalin à l'épurateur et le passage du gaz contenant de l'ozone à contre-courant par rapport au milieu alcalin, à l'intérieur de l'épurateur, de manière à mettre en contact intime le gaz contenant de l'ozone et ce milieu alcalin, ce qui rend le gaz sensiblement exempt d'ozone. Le milieu alcalin peut comprendre l'une des substances suivantes: une solution d'hydroxyde de sodium; de la lessive neuve; un filtrat d'un étage postérieur à l'oxygène; une lessive noire faible, ou un filtrat provenant d'un étage d'extraction par voie oxydante de l'installation de blanchiment de la pâte. Le procédé selon l'invention comprend en outre l'évacuation séparée, hors de l'épurateur, du gaz contenant de l'ozone et du milieu alcalin. Ledit gaz peut comporter un effluent gazeux, que l'on a fait réagir partiellement avec une pâte à papier dans un étage de blanchiment, ou bien un gaz de blanchiment frais dont la teneur en ozone va d'environ 6 % à environ 14 % en poids au sein d'un gaz porteur. Un générateur d'ozone fournit directement ce gaz de blanchiment frais à l'épurateur.
