Abstract
In a device for catching game fish, it is known to use a fish attractor or flasher in the form of an elongated plate-like body comprised of a reflective material. In this invention, a diamond-shaped area and bends radiate in mutually opposite directions from a diamond-shaped central planar area. The flasher can be produced in a variety of sizes and widths which affects the type of fish which are attracted to the flasher.
Description
This invention relates to a fish attractor to be used in conjunction with a lead line attached to a lure for the purpose of catching game fish.
It is common in devices for attracting fish to use an elongated plate-like body with bends in the anterior and posterior ends in mutually opposite directions which cause the device to simulate the action of a feeder fish. The actual shape of such attractors is instrumental in determining how the device moves through the water. The ability of this type of device to reflect light is dependent on the material of which it is composed and the way in which it spins in the water.
Previous fish attractors or flashers are of a double bent plate type with a planar central portion. It is an object of the present invention to produce a flasher with improved movement through the water. It is a further object to produce a flasher - Page 3 - 211255~
with a unique shape which increases its light reflecting capability.
The present invention has a long vertical diamond-shaped planar region in the centre of the body, which joins a horizontal diamond on each end. The horizontal diamonds are followed by a bend. The horizontal diamonds and bends radiate in mutually opposite directions from the vertical diamond-shaped area. The shape of the flasher allows the flasher to spin creating a vibration in the water and causes the lure or spoon to move more quickly and in more directions than conventional flashers, making it more attractive to fish. The invention will now be described in greater detail with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1, 2 and 3 are perspective views of the attractor.
- Figure 4 is a longitudinal section of figures 1, 2 and 3.
The drawings show a flasher, of an elongated plate-like body with two light reflective sides. The member has two side edges 2 and 3, a front end 4, and a rear end, 5. Rounded joinder edges 6 and 7 join the front edge 4 with side edges 2 and 3 respectively. Rounded joinder edges 8 and 9 join the rear end 5 with side edges 2 and 3 respectively. The side edges 2 and 3 are not parallel and diverge slightly from the front edges to the rear of the body. Hole 10 is at the rear end number 5 and mid-way in a line to the front end 4, hole 11. The flasher can be manufactured in a number of sizes and widths.
As best seen in figure 2, the fish attractor or flasher is in the form of an elongated plate-like body comprised of a reflective material in this design. Bends radiate in mutually opposite directions from the series of diamond shapes 1 inch from front end 4 mid-way to 17 and 1 inch from rear end 5 mid-way to 22. From the central axis 12 and 13 side 2 and 3, there are a variety of angles running upwards and downwards in diamond shapes from a point 14 which is 1 inch from side 3 to a line drawn mid-way to 15 side 3 to a point 16 side 3 to a point mid-way to 17, a line drawn upwards to 18 side 2 a line downwards from 18 side 2 drawn mid-way to join 15 side 3 and 16 side 3 and with 19 side 2, the line goes slightly upwards to central axis 12 which is 1 inch from side 2. A line going slightly downward from central axis 12 (1 inch from side 2) to 20 side 2, joins mid-way with 21 side 2 downwards to a mid-way point 22 (1 inch from rear end 5) and then joins 23 side 3 and a line from 23 side 3 joins 24 mid-way and from 24 side 3 at a slight angle downwards to 14 (1 inch from side 3) and the central axis 13 side edge 3.
As seen best in figure 3, at the anterior of the device there are two bends at 1 inch intervals, 25 side 2 and 25 side 3.
In the posterior there are two bends at 1 inch intervals, 26 side 2 and 26 side 3. The front end 4 bends downwards 15 degrees, the rear end 5 bends upwards 30 degrees, a ring and swivel, 27 are attached to a hole 10, as seen in figure 3, with a line 30 attached to the fishing lure. A ring and swivel, 28 are attached to hole 11 front end 4 and a fishing line 29.
Figure 4 is an elongated section of figures 1, 2 and 3 and shows the angles that the lure is bent in. When the centre diamond is creased downward with a chisel and hammer it makes the side edges 2 and 3 rise up in an ark.
31, side edge 2, rises up from rear end 5 mid-way from 18 side 2 and 19 side 2 to 20 side 2 to 21 side 2. Central axis 31 side 2 rises approximately ~ inch from mid-way 12 and 13 and arks for a distance of 6 inches towards the front end 4 from rear 5.
32, side edge 3, rises up from front end 4 mid-way from 16 side 3 and 15 side 3 to 24 side 3 to 23 side 3. Central axis 32 side 3 rises approximately ~ inch from mid-way 13 and 12 arks for a distance of 6 inches towards the rear end 5 from front 4.
The diamond shape formed by joining 24, 21, 22, and 23 bends upwards slightly toward rear 5. The diamond shape formed by joining 15, 18, 17 and 16 bends slightly toward front end 4.
The bends along line 26 bend toward rear end 5 and the bends along line 25 bend toward front end 4 in the opposite direction so that on the cross-angle one goes down while the other goes up.
