Abstract

PROCESSO PARA ESTIMULAçãO DA PRODUçãO DE METANO A PARTIR DE PETRóLEO EM FORMAçõES SUBTERRáNEAS. Processo para estimulação de produção de metano microbiana em uma formação subterrânea contendo petróleo compreendendo: (a) analisar um ou mais componentes da formação para determinar características do ambiente da formação; (b) detectar a presença de um consórcio microbiano, compreendendo pelo menos um microorganismo metanogênico na formação; (c) avaliar se os microorganismos da formação encontram-se presentemente ativos; (d) determinar se o consórcio microbiano compreende um ou mais microorganismos metanotró ficos; (e) caracterizar um ou mais microorganismos do consórcio, pelo menos um dos membros do consórcio sendo um microorganismo metanogênico, e comparar os membros do consórcio com pelo menos um microorganismo conhecido tendo uma ou mais características ecológicas e fisiológicas conhecidas; (f) caracterizar um ou mais microorganismos metanotróficos do consórcio (se presente), e comparar os membros do consórcio com pelo menos um microorganismo conhecido tendo uma ou mais características ecológicas e fisiológicas conhecidas; (g) utilizar a informação obtida a partir das etapas (a) até (e) para determinar um ambiente ecológico que promova degradação microbiana in situ de petróleo e promova geração microbiana de metano por pelo menos um microorganismo metanogênico do consórcio; (h) utilizar informação obtida a partir das etapas (a) e (f), se os microorganismos metanotróficos estiverem presentes, para determinar um ambiente ecológico que rebaixe a degradação microbiana in situ de metano por pelo menos um microorganismo metanotrófico do consórcio; e (i) modificar o ambiente da formação com base nas determinações das etapas (g) e (h), se os microorganismos metanotráficos estiverem presentes, para estimular a conversão micro-biana de petróleos a metano, enquanto minimiza a destruição do metano por processos adversos.
