Abstract
''PROCESSO PARA REDUçãO DE INCRUSTAçãO NO PROCESSO BAYER''. A presente invenção refere-se a um processo para redução de incrustação no processo Bayer compreendendo: (a) digestão de um minério de alumínio em um licor cáustico para extrair valores de alumina; (b) alimentação do licor em um tanque sedimentador para clarificar o licor por separação de materiais insolúveis cáusticos; e (c) precipitação de cristais de alumina do licor clarificado, compreendendo adicionalmente o processo adição de um polissacarídeo na alimentação do sedimentador em uma quantidade menor do que 50 ppm, citada quantidade sendo suficiente para minimizar a formação de incrustação e para prolongar o tempo entre operações de remoção de incrustação em comparação com uma alimentação na ausência de polissacarídeo. PROCESS FOR REDUCING INCRUSTATION IN THE BAYER PROCESS ''. The present invention relates to a process for reducing fouling in the Bayer process comprising: (a) digesting an aluminum ore in a caustic liquor to extract alumina values; (b) feeding the liquor into a sedimentation tank to clarify the liquor by separating insoluble caustic materials; and (c) precipitation of alumina crystals from the clarified liquor, further comprising the process of adding a polysaccharide to the sedimenter feed in an amount less than 50 ppm, said amount being sufficient to minimize the formation of fouling and to prolong the time between scale removal operations compared to a feed in the absence of polysaccharide. Using the process of the invention it is possible to substantially extend the time between scale removal operations in some cases by more than 100%.
