Abstract
Patente de Invenção: <B>"INJEçãO DE AMÈNIA EM CONTROLE NOx". Trata-se de aperfeiçoamentos descritos na injeção de amónia (NH~ 3~) nos gases de escapamento de um motor para reduzir óxidos de nitrogênio. Em vez de meramente injetar amónia no cano de gás de escapamento através de um orifício em seu lado, um injetor de amónia (90) é provido que se proteja consideravelmente no cano de escapamento (16), com o injetor possuindo uma pluralidade de orifícios (94). A amónia é ativada para decompó-la em seus componentes reativos, inclusive NH~ 2~ e NH antes de injetá-la no cano de escapamento. Essa ativação antes da injeção pode ser realizada ao se aquecer a amónia na presença de um catalisador, tal como um metal do grupo platina, ferro, níquel ou zinco. Em um motor que tem um sistema de injeção de combustível em que os pulsos elétricos são fornecidos aos injetores de combustível para controlar o índice de fluxo de combustível, as durações desses sinais elétricos são usadas para controlar a abertura de uma válvula (72) que controla o índice de fluxo de amónia no cano de gás de escapamento.
