Abstract

A magnetic tape cartridge (10) compatible with a disc drive is provided with a tape guide (400) for accurately positioning a magnetic tape (12) in relation to a disc drive head (502, 504). The tape guide (400) includes a positioning section to be aligned with a rotational axis of a centre core assembly (200) when the centre core assembly (200) is chucked on a turntable (302) of the disc drive. The tape guide (400) also includes a guide section (412, 414a) defining a tape run path across the disc drive head (502, 504). The guide section (412, 414a) is formed integrally with the section to be aligned with the centre core assembly (200) and is so distanced therefrom as accurately to position the tape (12) with respect to the disc drive head (502, 504), so the distance therebetween can be maintained precisely constant.
