Abstract
In the prodn of reducing gases by catalytic hydrocarbon reforming, opt followed by heating the product, the major part of the walls of the reforming and/or heating vessels in contact with the materials during reforming and/or heating comprises an alloy contg. >=60 (pref >=72)% Ni+Co, 10-20 (pref 14-17)% Cr, 4-14 (pref 6-10)% Fe, 0.5 (pref 1)% Mn, 0.03 (pref 0.15)% C, 2 (pref. 1)% Mn, 0.03 (pref 0.015)% S, 0.6 (pref 0.5)% Si and pref. 0.5% Cu. The formation of soot deposits is avoided or reduced.
