Een kleurvast plaatmateriaal (1), waarbij het kleurvast plaatmateriaal (1) een hout-omvattende plaat (10) omvat. De hout-omvattende plaat (10) is samengesteld uit één of meerdere lagen houtschilfers, waarbij de houtschilfers met een bindmiddel met elkaar verbonden zijn. De hout-omvattende plaat (10) omvat twee vlakken ((101) en (102)). Minstens een deel van minstens één van de vlakken van de hout-omvattende plaat (10) wordt bedekt door een kleurlaag (121) voor het induceren van een kleur en/of afbeelding op de hout-omvattende plaat (10), en waarbij de kleurlaag (121) bedekt wordt door een beschermlaag (122), omvattende één of meerdere lagen vernis.
