Abstract

The invention relates to the field of packaging printed works, such as books, magazines or newspapers.

For home delivery of printed works, and in particular books, these are generally packed in rigid cardboard, folded adequately and glued to keep it closed. To get the book out, you have to tear off part of the box. The packaging being rendered unusable, it must then be discarded. Likewise, magazines are usually wrapped in a transparent clear plastic film, which must be torn and discarded after removal from the magazine.

For the sake of sustainability, it was deemed necessary by the applicant to offer packaging which satisfactorily protects a printed work upon delivery and which can be reused at will.

To this end, the present invention provides a packaging consisting of a box comprising two compartments arranged to be juxtaposed and fixed to each other by form cooperation.

The box is preferably rectangular. When closed, the edges of the two compartments are juxtaposed, not overlapped.

In a preferred embodiment, a curvilinear design of the edges ensures that the edges do not slide against each other when the box is closed. This is also allowed by cutting a notch at the edge of one of the compartments, into which can be inserted a hook or tab formed at the corresponding level of the edge of the other compartment.

Referring to Figure 1, a box 1, here of parallelepiped shape, consists of an upper compartment 2 and a lower compartment 3. The parallelepiped is here higher than wide and thin. The parallelepiped is cut over its entire width and thickness to form the two compartments 2 and 3. Along the cutting line, the upper compartment 2 has an edge 4 of curvilinear shape, here convex, in its large faces 21 and rectilinear in its small faces 22. The edge 4, in one of its large faces, has a hook or tongue 5. One could provide such a tongue on the two large faces; The lower compartment 3 has an edge 6 complementary to the edge 4, that is to say curved concave, in its large faces 31. In Figure 2, the box 1 is closed. The upper compartment 2 is juxtaposed with the lower compartment 3 so that the edges 4 and 6 are in contact. The hook 5 is inserted into the notch 7. The upper compartment 2 thus serves as a cover for the lower compartment 3, the whole forming a box 1 which can be opened and closed at will, without any additional device.

The package 1 can be made of any sufficiently rigid material, but having a certain flexibility in order to be able to insert the hook into the notch. Preferably, the package 1 is made of plastic or cardboard. A plastic material nevertheless has the advantage of better protecting the structure from humidity. It can be a transparent plastic material, so that the work can be identified without having to open the box, or that a delivery slip containing the delivery address is also slipped and visible there without having to open the box.

Book 8, thus introduced into packaging 1, is perfectly protected from impact.

The hook 5 fitting into the notch 7 has several advantages. First of all, no adhesive should be used to close the packaging. As a result, the packaging does not have to be torn to be opened, and can therefore be used several times. This also reduces production costs and the ecological impact.

Then, the combination of the hook with the curvilinear edge allows that, in the closed configuration, the edge 4 of the upper compartment cannot slide along the edge 9 of the lower compartment. The upper compartment 2 can also not rotate around the hook, the package 1 can not open unexpectedly.

The curvilinear edges have been shown here slightly rounded, it is nevertheless conceivable that the edges are cut according to any other suitable pattern.

The packaging is made so that in its open configuration, the opening of compartments 2 and 3 remains narrow so that the product is slid over the edge, unlike existing cardboard packaging, where a book can be placed "flat ".

It should be noted that the upper compartment 2 and the lower compartment 3 are juxtaposed, and not nest one on the other. The two compartments have an identical section.

Box 1 described here contains a book 8. A similar packaging can be provided to contain several books or printed works.

The dimensions of the packaging can be adapted to the type of works for which it is intended. It can for example have a pocket book format, or a format allowing a daily newspaper to be inserted there.

The packaging of the invention is suitable for relatively careful delivery methods. It is possible to add other elements to ensure that the box does not open, even in fairly rough handling conditions, such as an elastic band or a strap surrounding the box on its height, also reusable .
