Abstract

The invention relates to a method for placing a mattress (1) into the inner volume formed by a coating (8), the coating (8) having a feeding opening (9). The method uses mattress transportation means (4, 5) for moving the mattress (1) into the inner volume. The mattress transportation means (4, 5) are placed partly into the inner volume of the coating (8). The transportation means (4, 5) reduce the perimeter of the mattress (1) in a direction perpendicular to the direction of moving the mattress (1) at least at the feeding opening (9), whereby the perimeter of the mattress is preferably smaller than or equal to the perimeter of the feeding opening.
