Description

1 2017100570 19 May 2017 CIGARETTE HOLDER Field of the Invention [1] The present invention relates to a cigarette holder.
Background of the Invention [2] The present invention seeks to overcome or substantially ameliorate at least some of the deficiencies of the prior art, or to at least provide an alternative.
[3] It is to be understood that, if any prior art information is referred to herein, such reference does not constitute an admission that the information forms part of the common general knowledge in the art, in Australia or any other country.
Summary of the Invention [4] According to a first aspect, the present invention provides a cigarette holder comprising: [5] a generally tubular first portion, the first portion having a cavity extending between a first open end and a second open end thereof, [6] a tubular plunger disposed within the cavity, the plunger comprising a suction head, a tube, and a plunger end, [7] wherein in use, a butt end of a cigarette is inserted into the first end of the first portion and the cigarette pushes against the plunger end which pushes part of the tube out of the second end, wherein the user can then smoke the cigarette by sucking via the suction head, and the user can push the suction head towards the second end of the to eject the cigarette via the plunger end.
[8] Preferably, the cigarette holder further comprises a holder ring extending from the first portion.
[9] Preferably, the cavity is conically shaped from the first end and narrows in diameter towards the second end to retain the cigarette thereon.
[10] Preferably, the suction head is shaped as a part sphere.
[11] Preferably, the suction head is disposed adjacent the second end of the first portion.
[12] Preferably, the suction head is larger in diameter than the cavity and is always external of the cavity.
[13] Preferably, the tube extends along the length of the cavity from the suction head to the first end. 2 2017100570 19 May 2017 [14] Preferably, the plunger end is disposed at the distal end of the tube and extends out of the first end when the cigarette holder is not in use.
[15] Preferably, the tube has an internal passage which extends from a first opening at the suction head to a second opening at the plunger end.
[16] Preferably, the holder ring extends from the second end.
[17] Preferably, the holder ring is an incomplete ring shape terminating close to the first end.
[18] Other aspects of the invention are also disclosed.
Brief Description of the Drawings [19] Notwithstanding any other forms which may fall within the scope of the present invention, preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be described, by way of examples only, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: [20] Figure 1 (a) is a side view and (b) is a front view of a cigarette holder in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention; [21] Figure 2 shows the cigarette holder in use held onto a user’s finger; [22] Figure 3 shows the cigarette holder in use with the user smoking the cigarette; [23] Figure 4 shows ejection of the cigarette butt from the cigarette holder.
Description of Embodiments [24] It should be noted in the following description that like or the same reference numerals in different embodiments denote the same or similar features.
[25] Figure 1 shows a cigarette holder 10 according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. The cigarette holder 10 comprises a generally tubular first portion 12 and a holder ring 14 extending from the first portion 12.
[26] The first portion 12 comprises a hollow body 20 having a cavity 26 extending between a first open end 22 and a second open end 24 thereof. The cavity 26 is conically shape from the first end 22 and narrows in diameter towards the second end 24. The conical shape is for allowing the first end 22 to receive an end of a cigarette and retain the cigarette thereon.
[27] The first portion 12 further includes a tubular plunger 32 disposed within the cavity 26. The plunger 32 comprises a shaped suction head 34, a tube 36, and a plunger end 38.
[28] The suction head 34 is shaped for suction and comfort to the user such as a half sphere or other smooth shape. When not in use, the suction head 34 is disposed adjacent 2017100570 19 May 2017 3 the second end 24 of the body 20. The suction head 34 is larger in diameter than the cavity 26 and thus the suction head 34 will always be external of the cavity 26.
[29] The tube 36 extends along the length of the cavity 26 from the suction head 34 to the first end 22. The plunger end 38 is disposed at the distal end of the tube 36 and extends out of the first end 22 when the cigarette holder is not in use. The tube 36 has an internal passage 37 which extends the entire length of the plunger 32, that is, from a first opening at the suction head 34 to a second opening at the plunger end 38.
[30] The holder ring 14 extends from the second end 24 and is an incomplete ring shape terminating close to the first end 22.
[31] Referring to Figures 3 and 4, in use, a user places the holder ring 14 onto one of his fingers. A butt end or suction end of a cigarette 50 is inserted into the first end 22 of the body 20. The cigarette 50 pushes against the plunger end 38 which thus pushes part of the tube 36 out of the second end 24. The suction head 34 is thus now spaced from the second end 24. The cigarette 50 is held in place via the narrowing cavity 26 extending from the first end 22.
[32] The user then smokes the cigarette 50 by sucking via the first opening in the suction head 34. As shown in Figure 5, when the user is finished, the user pushes the suction head 34 towards the second end 24 of the body 20, which ejects the cigarette butt end 52 via the plunger end 38.
[33] Whilst preferred embodiments of the present invention have been described, it will be apparent to skilled persons that modifications can be made to the embodiments described. For example, the cigarette holder can additionally include an ash and burn guard shield to protect the user’s finger. The holder ring can be omitted also.
