Abstract
Abract The EDM 1500 2/6 is a machine designed for the cleaning of grain and seed post harvesting. The machine clean's they grain by way of physical separation of particles by reciprocating screens. The machine also separates the particles with an aspiration or air system. The configuration of scalping and screening screens in the machine enables us to maximise the thruput of the machine increasing its overall effectiveness when compared to similar machines. The eight screen setup split into two scalping and six screening is the key feature of the machine. Description
EDITORIAL NOTE 2015100069 There is one page of description only Compact Grain Air screener - EDM 1500-2/6 The machine has been designed to maximise grain flow and capacities for the screening and aspiration of grain. The flow of grain has been deisgned to encompass two scalping screens(one layer), And six screening screens(three layers) The machine consists eight perforated screens each being 1500mm x 800mm. The layers of reciprocating screens are driven by Eccentric bearings on two drive shafts. The screens reciprocating movement is what enables the grain to move along the screens. The grain to be cleaned is delivered to the screens via a feed reel which is a fitted roller used to ensure an even curtain of grain is delivered to the screens entire width. Once the grain is passed through the feed reel it drops directly onto a flat steel plate approximately 200mm long. The plates purpose is to enable the grain to form a uniform flow in the one direction therefore maximising the scalping screens efficiency. The layers of screens are split into two groups or decks. The first deck has the screens set at a downward angle of 7 degrees from horizontal. The first layer of two screens is used for scalping of the grain product to be cleaned. The scalping process is to remove larger impurities from the grain sample by allowing the good grain to fall through the screens, the larger waste products are carried along the screens for delivery to the waste chutes (outlets). The good grain from the feed reel and steel plate falls directly through the scalping screens (2) onto the first layer of screening screens. These two screens are also set at 7 degrees from horizontal on a downward angle. This layer is called the primary screening layer or deck. The good grain will pass along the top of these screens with the impurities falling through the screens to also be delivered to the waste outlets. Once the good grain has passed along the first two screening screens it is delivered to the next two layers of screens via a splitting assembly which splits the flowing grain evenly across the two remaining layers of screening screens. The secondary screening layers are set at an incline of 7.6 degrees from horizontal. The good grain passes over the screens with the impurities falling through these screens to the waste system, while the good grain exits the machine. In addition to the actual screening of the product air is used to remove lighter particles and dust throughout the process. The air is generated by a 5.5 or 7.5 kw fan assembly. The grain has air drawn through the column as it falls of the metering wheel prior to delivery to the first layer of scalping screens. This is called the pre aspiration. The post aspiration process draws air through the grain as it comes off the secondary screening deck. Both aspiration processes are governed by butterfly valves to control the air volume drawn through the product. As the aspirated products are drawn out of the grain they pass into and expansion chamber. In the expansion chamber the air pressure drops which separates the smaller dust particles from the heavier impurities. The dust then passes out through the air ducting system to the Cyclonic dust collectors while the heavy particles are exited via a waste auger across the underside of the machine.
