Description

Patent Front file:///C:/Docu men ts%20a n d %20Settin g s/Own er/My%20Docu ments/.. AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT Smart Gym System The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: 16/07/2009 3:03 PW 1 Smart Gym System The health and fitness industry today has evolved over the last few decades in leaps and bounds. Many, if not all of the leading developments from, facility administration, to state of the art equipment, training techniques, baseline measurements and testing all have one common denominator - Technology. It 5 is the bridging of these technologies that has led to the core concept of systematizing technology interactivity. This innovation bridges technology with an interactive approach, advancing it forward. The Smart Gym System (SGS) is a fully integrated software system, that has 10 multiple platform applications in the Health and Fitness Industry. It is revolutionary software that includes all aspects of gymnasium and/or facility management. The Smart Gym System is a methodology and process for grouping merchandise, services and users and for trading merchandise and services. It is a system for purchasing and reselling on line and off line 15 subscriptions, service contracts and memberships and paid website access. It is a module by module software application that is both an interactive and static system. The software is to be applied to any compatible computing device, in any environment that requires it to be installed and meets the software's standards. The software allows the user to interact via portable electronic 20 devices to download training programs, measure progress to defined goals, receive news of health and fitness information, other related events and motivational training input. It has the ability to add on plug ins and modules to improve compatibility and functionality. It is a "Smart Gym System". 25 Such modules will include membership site, e commerce, a shopping cart, forum software, a branded auto responder and support desk software. Indeed any piece of software that enhances it as a commercial product and as we may deem fit. The software is a training path for the user to perform tasks related to any course of action accessed within it. The Smart Gym System enables the 30 interface of hardware to measure cardiac output, blood pressure, fat, lean body mass and Body Max Index (BMI) etc. It is part of the process of creating personalized exercise routines delivered digitally and/or visually, or by means of other media. Thus, enabling the recording of this information into a database on a digital storage device to continuously monitor, update and display the end 2 35 user(s) progression. It is a trajectory projection and feedback system, such that the software enables the user to create virtual images that shows pre, post and progressive results relating to a desired outcome ie; weight loss, lean body mass, digital imaging, dieting and exercise reporting, for example. 40 The following is one scenario of what a dieting module may do. It is a module within (SGS) for providing a user with a diet and exercise program together with support, both in person, the software on a computing device or via the Internet. Comprising a central server having a diet and exercise model, a database of personal profiles of a plurality of users, a communication unit for 45 communicating with said plurality of users over a network, an advice calculator unit for using said diet and exercise model together with respective personal profiles to plan a personalized diet and exercise program for a given user and a scheduler for scheduling sending of details of said program to said remote user via said communication unit, thereby to provide said user with a time-based 50 diet and exercise program. Additionally, a query unit provides a facility for allowing the user to make on-line queries of the database. Queries may range from asking about nutritional values of given foods to requesting modifications of the diet and exercise program. All included within the "diet module". 55 It is a communications system for routing information to members. It's a system and method of interfacing any digital device that can exchange electronic information via any communications protocol that fulfills the parameters of such an exchange ie via blue tooth and/or infrared, Internet etc. Information can be stored on hosted servers, in-house or any environment that 60 requires the software to work. A control is provided, either on the storage media or on computing devices as previously described, or via the Internet as a web application. It is an interactive educational system that includes a tracking system. Thus 65 information is exchanged by supplying the information for the user's end gain. Such an exchange may be effected by inputting commands with a mouse, keyboard or touch screen connected to any device or piece of equipment that has the ability to affect such a change. The media storage devices then are able to be added or removed to the software enabled system and from devices that 70 connect to that system, directly or remotely - in said environment. These may include open houses, learning centers, conventions/trade-shows, gyms, corporations, rehabilitation centers, armed forces and the like, and users may respectively be Realtors, students, attendees, exercisers etc. 75 It is an open system that builds transparency between the trainers and their clients, end users and respective software developers. Users are able to schedule workout sessions in advance by using a wireless device or a personal 3 computer from a location remote from the specific location where the workout sessions are to occur. The Smart Gym System is an "intentional community 80 management system", such a community includes members who have rights to use physical resources such as facilities and services that are managed by it with the benefit of the community in mind. The community members are able to interact with the software, as too are authorized vendors. 85 It's a "lifestyle companion system". Methods and systems for providing a lifestyle companion system are provided. It provides a platform to conduct a user interview and surveys, for example. Based on the feedback, the system can suggest activities, references, and/or plug-in modules to their respective membership. During performance of activities, the system can provide audio 90 and/or visual cues related to the activities and collect data indicative of the user's performance and provide instant feedback. The data can be then used for various purposes, including customizing sales and marketing efforts for an individual user or community, marketing analysis, viral marketing, or any other purpose. The information can result in increased consumer communication and 95 awareness as well as savings for an individual user or non-user. The information retrieved may include user data, community data, location data, and the like. The data can be collected and reported to the individual and/or the community on a real-time or substantially near real-time basis. 100 Other embodiments are described. A management application, or media management application, for managing game software is disclosed. In one embodiment, the media management application can also manage other types of media besides games. Such other media can include music, videos, images, audio books, pod casts, or as a multi-media device that is both a simulator and 105 piece of exercise equipment. All data gained from these information streams aid in client/customer profiling, hence a database as part of an information retrieval process that informs the system dynamically. The user(s) who have selected the digital content before they arrive at a device 110 for distributing the digital content are described. The Smart Gym System contains a storage device where the digital content is stored for distributing the digital content to a user, a receiving device for receiving the digital content that has been distributed, and means for communicating with the user who is not located at the distribution device. The communication means: allows the user 115 to browse and/or purchase the digital content prior to arriving at the distribution device, as well as purchasing / browsing the content before arrival, if the digital content is not located at the distribution device, it can be transferred from the storage device to the distribution device before the arrival of the user where the work out session is to be held.
4 120 Electronic data storage devices that can access the software may include an integrated circuit structure having a storage element for storing instructions, programs and data. The integrated circuit structure may also include a programmed processor in communication with the storage element. The storage devices communicates the information relating to many possible 125 objects, including, for example, a financial account, a points-based account, a monetary account, a membership, a promotion service, a travel-related service account, a charge account, a credit account, a debit account, a bonus account, or an identification card. 130 Computer and all previously mentioned storage devices, that may interact with the software system, may have access to exercise apparatus via the means of a data exchange port. A user exercises during a workout session and the software records data regarding the workout session in memory. The data is then down loadable through the port into an appropriate device. A number of exercise 135 apparatus may be networked, saving the user from having to download after each exercise in the session and allowing for greater download potential. Separate auxiliary centers may also be provided in a network setting. Users may also add data to the device manually or through subsequent downloads at remote locations and then upload the new data into the local network, thus 140 saving data that might otherwise be lost and incorporating it into a single record.
