Description

O DESCRIPTION
U
The PotMate was initially designed to stop spillover from watering pot plants which results in unsightly stains on concrete and tiled surfaces and wood rot on timber surfaces. When tested, other benefits of PotMate included water economy, regular supply of water to plants, elimination of mosquito breeding in pot bases, ease of Cc, installation and removal, easy access for filling with watering cans or hoses and removal of slippery areas when water spills over from pots. This innovation is Sparticularly useful for areas where water restrictions apply or mosquito breeding is a health hazard.
Similar inventions such as the self watering pot, provide areas for mosquitoes and toads to breed whereas the PotMate, with its gauze covering and slow-release of water, eliminates these problems.
PotMate is a pot plant watering device made of plastic in the shape of an inverted bottle which is inserted into the side of the pot. The top end has a large opening to allow easy filling which is covered in gauze to prevent access for mosquitoes. A nipple attachment on the lower end of the cone connects to a flexible hose with a drip sprinkler head to regulate water flow. The drip sprinkler head is then placed next to the stem of the plant. A detachable stake holds the water holding device in place.
Water is poured into the top of PotMate, in either 500ml or 1 litre capacity depending on pot size, which is then drip fed to the plant over a user-adjusted period of time.
Larger versions of PotMate with greater water holding capacity are also planned for garden feature plants.
