Description

Complete Specification Innovation Patent ONLINE INTERACTIVE BOOKING SYSTEM FOR PET SERVICES The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: Inventors: Andrew James Lucey And Bronwyn Maree Lucey Online Interactive Booking System for Pet Services The invention relates to improving the booking process for kennels, grooming and other services provided for dogs, cats and other animals.
Booking services for pets, especially around busy periods, is never easy. It usually entails numerous phone calls checking for availability and comparing prices and features. People have relied on standard directory listings to compare and locate services. These are not interactive and require contacting each individual business/company which provides the service in order to observe availability and/or book the service offered.
These problems have been overcome by the present invention which provides an online central booking system allowing users to easily and quickly compare a range of services, their suitability and availability over a period of time and then book the service online. It comprises an easy to understand interface displaying updated availability, pricing and other features in a selected area over a time frame.
In one form of the invention a user may arrive at the site and select a type of service required, the area serviced and the date the service was to be undertaken. A calendar interface would then be shown displaying suitable services in a table with the columns headed from left to right with the days over the next two weeks and the rows headed by the companies name and/or services type/name. In each cell of the table the price is shown to indicate availability and if not available a sold or other similar word/icon displayed. Links to a page with a detailed description of the service/company would be available to quickly compare features and asses suitability.
Companies/businesses would be able to update their services availability via directly accessing their control panel (or similar) provided by the system or integrating their electronic booking system directly.
In another form the user could browse the availability of many different services over a variable or user defined time frame. The availability may be shown in other formats other then a calendar such as simple listing of services available on a certain date.
To assist with understanding the invention reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings which show one example of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows example of an interface displaying availability and pricing of a range of products using a calendar interface.
Referring to Fig. 1, an example using a calendar interface with dates heading the column and products and company heading the rows. The cells contain pricing to indicate availability or the word sold to indicate it is unavailable. The contents of the cells are provided by the supplier of the service and can be modified easily at any time. They system automatically updates the availability when a booking is taken online.
