Abstract

The invention relates to a gas stunning facility (2) for slaughter animals, comprising the following: a) a pit (4) with stunning gas; b) a plurality of transport gondolas (18) and c) a displacement device (12) by means of which the transport gondolas (18) can be moved from a loading station into the pit during a first movement segment; through the pit (4) during a second movement segment; from the pit (4) to a discharge station during a third movement segment and finally from the discharge station back to the loading station during a fourth movement segment. The invention is characterized in that the displacement device is configured in such a way that the transport gondolas are moved at a slower time-averaged speed and with less distance between them during the second movement segment than during the first movement segment.
